What would make this a five star, hmmm? Maybe if the music synced between outside and inside dining 😉 and a bit more "cabbage shed" decor (it was a bit boring inside other than the water view). We arrived at the Cabbage Shed on Sunday evening around 5ish. Parking is a bit hanky. Either right in front of the restaurant or across the road in a small lot shared by locals perhaps? We found a spot in the lot, crossed the road and found a line at the door. Since there was a wait for outdoor seating we opted for indoor, window seat. I thing it was the back porch area. It was quite large but again, no interesting decor. We did however get a somewhat nice view of the water during dinner. I think the outdoor seating would have been nice too. Service was quick and friendly, but how could it be anything other than that with Tammy as our server 😘 We ordered voodoo shrimp with a 7&7 and hippie juice for drinks. Drinks were made wonderfully balanced, just the right amount of alcohol to make the drinks yummy. The voodoo shrimp was the perfect size to share between hubby and I. Just the right amount of not too hot sauce too. As a matter of fact it really wasn't spicy at all but that was perfectly fine with me. Tammy kept the meal timing perfectly with our appetizers being given plenty of time for us to eat, chat and relax. Hubby ordered the fish and chips... Delicious! The fish was cut thinly but breaded and fried perfectly and seasoned wonderfully. It came with coleslaw and rosemary/parmesan fries. I could have eaten a meal of the fries 😉. The portion size was just about right too, maybe another smaller piece of fish but now I'm just being picky 😬. Price point of this was about $11, so really not bad at all. I ordered the chef's special of duck with a cherry reduction, green beans and mashed potatoes. Taste buds went into overdrive! I started with the green beans and mashed potatoes and simply enjoyed the flavor knowing I still had the duck to sample! The duck fat was rendered to a scrumptious crisp and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The cherry reduction wasn't overly sweet yet added that yummy sweet/tart addition to the duck. Needless to say I ate it all with a little, and I mean little, help from the hubs! Portion size was maybe a bit too big but that allowed hubby to sample the deliciousness too. Price point on this was about $35 so a bit steep but even if I had known the price I probably would have ordered it and been very happy! Tammy allowed us to eat and talk and relax without being overly intrusive. Her attention was spot on. Overall it was a delicious dinner. The atmosphere could have used some sprucing up so don't be looking for anything special there. However the food was very good and I'd definitely recommend this place when you're in the area.

This place is what well off people think a dive bar looks like. If you own a Harley Davidson, never made repairs yourself and enjoy wine tasting this place is for you, not knocking it but it is definitely not a cheap or authentic biker bar. They offer live music, open Mic nights, an acoustic night for when you're really feeling rowdy. The hours are limited and even more so as the season gets cold. The view off the back of Betsie lake is great. Our food took forever when the place was practically empty but was good, not great, good. The prices are way too much for the amount and quality. I don't know what they are thinking with their cole slaw but it was awful and you get about two table spoons with your entree. Don't expect greatness and you will be fine. They put more into appearance than quality, we left still hungry.

We met one of my Brothers and Sis-in laws here for a Tuesday evening dinner and had a great time. Marilyn was our server and she was extraordinary, taking time to explain details about things we were curious about. The Fish and Chips are excellent, as was the Whitey Ford Pizza. I had the Chef's Cut of the Day, and it was amazing! The 99 Irish Whiskeys list is very intriguing, we only sampled 2, recommended by one of the owners, who happened to stop by our table and shared the story about how they have so many Irish Whiskeys. We had the Slane and the Proper No. 12, both an excellent entry level whiskey. We also saw an eagle fishing for his dinner out in the lake, which just added to the great time we had. Hats off to the Shed, we'll be back!

I grew up going to the Cabbage Shed. I enjoyed the food... of course... the plentiful drinks... goes without saying... but most importantly... I loved the atmosphere, by atmosphere I mean the people that frequented the Shed. No matter what time of day or night I came in weekday or weekend there were always great people there, locals and non locals :) It was a positive place and a beacon of the town Elberta. It was known for great live music, great people, and positive energy.... Server's, cooks, Bartenders from other local establishments from other towns made it their after hours hot spot which added to the amazing atmosphere for the Cabbage Shed. Traditions and memories and authenticity made that place amazing. Memorial Weekend usually is the 'start off' to positive things to come... I came in there on a Saturday Night... no bands.... no people, and last call was at 11:35pm. There were 4 other 'patrons' at the bar...... 10-12 people total... the rest being employees. I came with my sister, despite the fact that our family owns it and we are coming in 10 minutes after the kitchen closes... No food is available. So don't be disappointed if you don't get what you want. There are NO EXCEPTIONS:) Also bought 4 drinks.... nothing fancy.... 30 bucks.. No bueno. Sorry to see the Shed headed in this direction. Went from my 'Go To' to my...

I'm astounded. I've driven past this location many, many times- it has always been too packed to get in. However, during my mother and I's annual vacation, we arrived Wednesday right before the doors opened and were able to grab a seat with a beautiful view. We both ordered a burger with bacon, with the seasonal vegetable (chopped brussel sprouts) as one side and their "shedslaw" as the other, and split a tomato caprese. I can honestly without a second thought say that this was the absolute best meal of my life. It almost feels that every meal and burger I have after this moment in time will dull in comparison to what I had on this rainy Wednesday. In addition, the server we had was absolutely amazing- she didn't hover, she was friendly but not over the top, she kept our drinks filled, she was amazing. There was even one point in which I shoo'd away a fly (it's that season- no big deal) and the next time she came over, she apologized about the flies! This means that she was watching us the entire time like a hawk, without having to hover. Everyone in the food service could learn something from her.The menu was amazing and everything looked so appetizing, it was hard to choose! All in all, this was a perfect dining experience I cannot wait to share with other...
