I met friends here for lunch this afternoon. Sat at the table in the bar area since the restaurant was closed due to private events. I have eaten here before and gotten takeout and never had an issue. The bartender who was the main person we dealt with was good. However, I had a negative experience as I left, which leads me to leave this review. Before my friends and I paid, I ordered a cheeseburger to go from one of the five people who waited on us in the few hours we were there. After waiting a good 20 minutes, a younger guy (who I think is probably the bar manager) came over and asked about the burger. We said that we had put the order in and we were waiting. It was clear from that moment that the order was never put in. Not a huge deal as it’s totally understandable because these things happen. He said OK it’ll be a few more minutes, as there were burgers already cooking on the grill. Well, another 15 minutes later, the burger finally comes out. I told the young lady that I hadn’t paid for it yet; she said OK, shrugged her shoulders, and walked away. I got up from my table went to the bar and said I needed to pay for the burger. The bartender was definitely appalled that I JUST received the burger and I hadn’t been billed for it. What could have made things right is he could have spoken to the manager to dispute the charge since the management team was too preoccupied to see if their customers were good. This entire time there were at least three managers at the end of the bar by the restroom door just hanging out and talking. I knew they were managers because they were there the entire time we were there just chatting it up with people. The burger oversight was not a staffing issue, because there were at least five people who waited on our table. It was an organizational issue. At the very least, waiting probably 40 minutes for one burger should’ve been comped by management. Or an apology or acknowledgement from management for the oversight. Neither happened. The place needs more attentiveness to customer care and organization with how they do things. The dine in food was fine, but nobody came to even clear our table as we watched several other people come and go. Overall, the lazy attitude of management will prevent me from coming back anytime soon, if I return. There are tons of other restaurants in Glastonbury who do not have these basic problems with crappy customer treatment. By the way, this is the overcooked, crappy burger I received for $21 and a 40 minute wait. Totally...
Read moreWas so excited to try this place after all the hype online there has been, and really wanted to help a local place stay afloat in this crazy times. We actually took our friends who don’t live in town because we were so sure it was going to be great. Bad move, and embarrassing for us since everyone left hungry ... should have taken them down the street to 2hopewell with the same types of prices but amazing food. The Drinks were really good however took forever to get to us ... we ordered them before anything else and they didn’t even arrive till after we’re eaten starters. Starts were ok, bit in the pricey side for what they were, and nothing to rave about, but solid and wouldn’t have been an issue had the entrees been even decent. That’s where an already borderline average experience took a nosedive. The sad thing is everyone’s food looked really good when it arrived, but the taste didn’t nearly match the presentation. Everything was really pricey for what they were in the first place, but then to have 4out of 4 entries be ranging from bland, burnt or just bad tasting wasn’t good. The shrimp scampi was awful- like no taste at all, shrimp really overcooked, and the pasta was crunchy- like some of it never was even boiled. The tuna melt was incredibly dry, roll basically just crumbling apart, and inside lacking flavor, quantity of filling, and just wetness. The fries were good with it, but good fries are a dime a dozen in the area. The filet mignon came out looking really good, and my husband was excited it looked so promising. But what a let down... the mashed potatoes were barely “mashed” at all with giant chunks everywhere, cold, and so dry it was unpleasant. The filet itself had been charred on the outside. It rare on the inside. Husband asked for medium rare and honestly wouldn’t have minded the inside being on the rarer side, but the burnt taste from the outside was over powering. For 30 dollars for that plate there was nothing good on it. We’re so sad about this experience because it cost over two hundred dollars for two couples to be there without dessert even and it really wasn’t good. The staff was so great, owner came by early on before food came and seemed nice, and the covid protocol was top notch. Very disappointed we can’t add this to our local rotation and have to make up this lousy experience to our friends. Might be a spot just for drinks at the bar after work, since that was the only...
Read moreHad dinner there last night . Sat at the bar as there was no other seating, it was about 5:45. My friend ordered the haddock , her meal was fine, not exceptional but good, average. I ventured a bit from my norm and ordered the filet mignon, substituting the asparagus out for snap peas. I don’t like rare cook nor over done, so told the waiter I didn’t want it bloody but with some pink , he said go medium in which case I agreed. I was so very disappointed, it was very charred and pretty well done, by the time the waiter made back around to see how we were liking our food, I managed to eat a few pieces, he could tell I wasn’t enjoying it, I said don’t worry, service had been slow, and we needed to leave by 7, I couldn’t imagine waiting for them to get me a burger instead, so I ate some, but potatoes and peas were also just ok, the peas actually were slightly over charred, I’m thinking they cook them in a skillet . But I ate what I could, steak was tasteless and dry, I would expect that with a well done steak but not medium. We ventured to spend even more money and get dessert, but to go, seeing that dinner took a bit, well dessert wasn’t super quick either. Ordered brownie dessert , that was pretty good. And also noted the seasonal pie, not so much , pie was undercooked unfortunately so I again picked at the good pieces. For a $100, meal was definitely not worth it. Woukd I go back , ya but probably for a burger, although I question the buns , I saw plenty of people order burgers , buns resemble English muffin type. While at the bar, we witnessed two other parties express unhappy feedback, at this point I wasn’t going to be the 3rd… our waiter should have comped at least one of the desserts, but not to his fault he did know I wasn’t thrilled & apologized and he was not the sane person to take our dessert order so he may not have made...
