I wanted to like this place, I genuinely did. Tyler Anderson's name comes with something of an expectation. One expects good food, interesting and inspired, a menu that makes you want to come back.
Aside from the fact that the decor is just a bit too Wooster street pizza for me, right down to the marvel character painted panels above the small arcade. My first point of worry was the menu.
Now, credit where it is due, it's a concise little menu that's fairly well balanced, if not lacking in creativity.
We went during happy hour, which does include some very nice drink and food specials, several of which we partook of.
The tomato goat cheese dip was disappointing, nothing more than marinara with crumbled goat cheese in the center. If it contained any other seasoning or special preparation, it wasnt apparent.
Pork meatballs were solid, large, with a nice bacon esque flavor that was relatively satisfying.
Then scampi appetizer was the stand out, pretty classic scampi with a few nice shrimp and some focaccia. For 6 bucks, I'll take it.
Now, the bad.
The pizza menu at first seems good, a couple classic red and white pies, and a couple interesting ones.
We opted for the bianco, a white pizza with a fre different cheeses and "spicy maple" and then the margherita, a pizza staple, and a good benchmark or quality.
Both were fine, just fine, which isn't what I expect from a restaraunt with Tyler Anderson's name on it.
The bianco was dying for something salty, it was solid concept, but poorly balanced and overpowered by the maple, which was just maple, no spice to speak of.
The margherita was rather dull, lacking in the strong and desired flavors one would hope. But it was, like many other things that night, fine.
My one real complaint would be the sheer ammount of flour, seemingly raw flour, that managed to adhere to the bottom of the pizzas. I've eaten many brick oven pies, and I worked at a couple pizzerias in the day, I've never come across this before. Normally the flour cooks and falls off in the oven, so the only explanation I can think of is if they're either flouring their pizza tins, or puting the pies back on the prep table before they serve them.
That made eating them a little unpleasant, the flour coated your tongue and just wasnt a great thing.
Overall, I'd return once they got their sea legs, but it wont be going into my...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Square Peg Pizza in Glastonbury, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience from start to finish. From the moment my family and I walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The rustic decor and cozy ambiance instantly made us feel at home. It's the perfect place for a casual dinner with family on a Friday evening out. Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the pizza. Square Peg Pizza takes pizza to a whole new level. The menu offers a fantastic variety of both classic and unique toppings, and the option to customize your own pizza is a nice touch. I opted for their "Cheese Pizza," and it was a flavor explosion in every bite. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and wonderfully chewy on the inside, and the balance of tomato sauce was just right. It's evident that they use high-quality ingredients. But what truly surprised and delighted me were their amazing wings! I couldn't resist trying the "Buffalo Blaze" wings, and they were sensational. Perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, they were coated in a tangy, spicy buffalo sauce that had just the right amount of kick. These wings are a must-try for any wing enthusiast. And don't miss out on their homemade desserts – the fried dough with Nutella, was spectacular. What truly sets Square Peg Pizza apart is the excellent service. The staff, led by the amazing manager, Wagner, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Wagner, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was exceptional. His attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out. Whether you're a local resident or just passing through Glastonbury, Square Peg Pizza is a must-visit. It's clear that they are passionate about creating exceptional food and providing a memorable dining experience. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu, especially those amazing wings. Square Peg Pizza is a true gem in the heart of Glastonbury, and Wagner's exceptional management adds an extra layer of excellence to the overall experience. In summary, if you're looking for delicious pizza, amazing wings, a cozy atmosphere, and outstanding service led by the amazing manager, Wagner, Square Peg Pizza should be at the top of your list. I highly...

Yelp @yelpconnecticut held their second annual prom-themed event at Square Peg Pizzaria @squarepegpizzeria in Glastonbury and it was a night to remember! I of course had to do this EXTRA ooey, gooey pizza-themed eyeshadow look! The event had an awesome DJ, delicious food, and drinks (blueberry sangria, strawberry margarita, and spiked iced tea) that made the night super enjoyable. The attendees were dressed in their finest attire, looking like prom royalty. Shoutout to @envisionballoons for such beautiful pizza balloon decor (I even managed to bring a balloon slice home), From the pizza (I had the pepperoni and honey, prosciutto, and fig pizzas) to the appetizers (cheesy garlic bread, meatballs) and dessert (cheesecake), the food was top-notch. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making sure that everyone was taken care of throughout the night.
The event was very well-organized and ran smoothly. The patio was beautiful, with stringed tomato sauce cans and a fire ambiance that made it perfect for prom night. The fire pit was a great touch, adding warmth and coziness to the atmosphere. The staff provided excellent service, making sure that all guests were comfortable and happy.
The event was a great time to mingle and dance with fellow Yelpers. The attendees enjoyed the opportunity to share their experiences and make new friends. The DJ kept everyone dancing all night long, playing a great mix of music that everyone enjoyed.
Overall, the event was a fun evening filled with good food and great company. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the Yelp community and to enjoy the best of what Square Peg Pizza has to offer. Thank you, Yelp, Square Peg Pizza, and all the staff for making this year’s event a...
