On our cross-country trip, we found ourselves in Glendive, MT. After a morning of rockhunting on the Yellowstone River, we were headed out of town. We thought about grabbing a quick lunch at the grocery, but my husband saw the good reviews for Frosty's. We decided to give it a try.
There is no dine in eating. There is call ahead and pick it up at a window and there is a drive thru. We are in a high roof campervan and we never use the drive thru because we usually can't fit. However, the way the building is designed, we had no problem. I'm glad we got in line when we did! The line soon grew to be quite long!
They had signs asking for patience as they prepared your order. The signs started they were understaffed. I think they'd be understaffed no matter how many folks were working... the food is really good!
We both tried the shrimp burger with onion rings. Both were amazing! Both were fried... I'm not going to think about the health consequences.. once in a while you just gotta have a meal like this!
Both were fried to perfection. The burger was chopped shrimp held together with seasoned bread crumbs, sort of like a crab cake but with shrimp. The onion rings were thick slices of onion, coated in the same breading and were so crunchy! We couldn't eat them all and saved them for later. After our next rockhounding stop, we finished them. They were STILL crunchy! This is how onion rings should be!
If you find yourselves in Glendive, MT, be sure to eat here. Go before the noon crowd gets in line, or your wait will be a long one. The wait, however, will be well worth it!
Thank...
Read moreWho isn't open on Saturdays? Especially for a drive up point like this? The burgers were i guess flat top grilled. I was hoping with that big exhaust fan on the roof, big burger smells would exit, but their grill obviously doesn't work. This place sits so far off the road, it's surrounded by decapitated buildings all by itself and if you saw Glendive Montana, then you'd know or should know, that this place won't be good. I got no napkins in my bag, the young teen working there had no gloves on, no hairnet and I doubt no healthcard training. The milkshake was thick as peanut butter, had to ask for a spoon. It was butterscotch, and with the spoon I finally found the butterscotch all stuck to the side of the cup in a clump. The fries frozen obviously came from Albertons just up the street, dried out, salted so much to gag me. The burger had a microwaved look and taste to it, like I said above, the exhaust fan on the roof was not spinning. This place is not far from closing. I sat across the street for 20 minutes suffering in hunger, I saw 1 car pull through. On a Friday at 5pm. The other restaurants in Glendive are terrible too, but i imagine the locals think the food is good 👎👎👎👎. I'm never ever going near Glendive Montana again. Best thing there is the Dinosaur museum i give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I'm actually surprised, and I asked them "why is this place here in such a dump town"? They said "we're in the Hell creek formation" which is untrue, that is 60 miles northwest of them. But these old ladies just thought they live in such a great...
Read moreI came across this place searching online for a good lunch stop. The reviews were 4 and 5 stars consistently. Being from MN we have our fair share of good burger n malt places, so I had a bit of a high bar to compare to.
We got two cheeseburgers with the works (all toppings and sauces) with potato salad and malts. The burgers were good size, not too large to fit in your hand/s, but big enough to require a wide mouthed bite. Great flavor, cooked to order.
My wife loved, absolutely loved, the potato salad. Great classic yellow color with sharp flavors and hearty potato chunks. I loved the malts, worth getting a large because youll go through a regular much too fast.
Of note, it is drive through only at this time and the line can get long around the lunch hour. There was a table of you want to park and eat outside. No restrooms that we saw. Good food,...
