The food quality is terrific. On a scale of 1 to 10, the food rates an 11.
And the advertised prices are low.
But my wife got angry and swore to never go back. Here's why....
The place is mainly for takeout but also offers dine-in. Based on other reviewers, we came for our first time. We went to the register. The owner, a Thai immigrant, showed us the printed menu. We told her which items we wanted. She typed them into her computer, which printed the tentative bill. It strongly recommended we pay a 20% tip immediately, even though we hadn't yet seen any food or service. We paid it. We got the receipt. We went to a table. We stared at the bill and noticed that for each item, we'd been charged more than on the printed menu. We also noticed that the bill recommended we pay a surcharge of at least 3% before we leave, in addition to the 20% we'd already paid. When the owner finally brought us the food, my wife (who's owned a restaurant for 20 years) noticed that the portions were small and just in takeout containers: no plates. No silverware: just plastic knives and forks. No spoon for the soup, until we returned to the counter and got one ourselves. Most restaurants and fast-food places offer free tap water with ice, but no free water here: when we asked for water, the owner just pointed to a fridge of overpriced bottled stuff we could buy.
When we asked why the computer charged us more for each item than the amount on the printed menu, the owner's boyfriend said the restaurant's costs had gone up. When my wife asked why the printed menu's prices weren't rewritten, by either retyping or handwriting, he said that would be too much trouble, and the higher prices were already on the Website, though not visible to people walking in, like us. My wife said that's dishonest. He just shrugged. After that verbal altercation, we ate the rest of our...
Read moreExcellent Thai food! I've only gotten take out several times so far, but was impressed each time. Drunken Noodle, Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, all very good, very flavorful and, notably, perfectly cooked noodles and veggies (which is hard to find even at higher end sit down Thai restaurants). Soups have full flavor broths, with rich taste of lemongrass, lime, cilantro etc. I do agree with some other reviews, the spice level you choose can be hotter than expected - I like spicy food, but ordered med spice once to share the dish with someone and it was veeeery spicy. I would recommend ordering a few levels down from what you think you want or order light spice and a side of the Thai hot sauce to add as you like. Overall, great quality food for good price so far. Can't wait to try...
Read moreLove this place! The food is always good, hot and consistent! I have Celiac Disease (gluten allergy), and they have a good selection of Gluten Free items. When I called to place an order and mentioned my gluten allergy, she was very reassuring about their gluten safety and even recommended other GF items that I didn’t even think to ask about, assuming they would not be GF. (like the Scallion Pancakes!)
Side note for any new visitors: If you are not familiar with Thai spice levels, I recommend starting light! Thai food is notoriously spicy. I can handle a decent amount of heat, and even the “Light” spice is a little too much for me lol. Lesson learned, “Very Light” is...
