CAREFUL when you order anything sour with sour spray .... I'm giving 5 stars because I've never been let down by the service at pelicans before my list visit. I ordered 3 large shaved ice, was never offered the cone on top which now that I think of it I haven't been offered or received the cone the last couple of times we have went but anyways we ordered 3 large shaved ice the first one blue raspberry with sour apple and sour spray (our go to favorite) the second was watermelon and sour apple with sour spray and the third was watermelon and sour tsunami with sour spray. We like the sour spray and like sour stuff but these were unbearable it tasted like half of the liquid in the cup was sour spray and nobody could even eat theirs. All three went down the drain and $20 wasted. Not sure who the girl was working but I've never seen her before. If she is new it's understandable and I realize that we asked for sour spray but it usually tastes like a couple stays are added to the top and maybe a couple midway down the shaved ice but the rim of the cup was full of sour spray droplets so I know she spray those things down. I didn't want to go all the way back to Goldsboro to complain and I don't expect my money back because I realize everyone is different and someone may have possibly liked it but we ( again enjoy sour stuff ) couldn't bare it. I will be going back because we usually do at least once every couple weeks and sometimes multiple times a week on summer days and I'm going to mention it to the girl who made them if I see her, but i justwanted to warn anyone getting sour spray and sour flavors.......

I’m so sad! Pelicans is our all-time favorite and we visit them whenever we see them on our map while traveling. But this location was a terrible experience for us. We waited 10 minutes in 95 degree heat for them to put our order together (even though there was no one ahead of us). And whenever they opened the window (to take our order or payment) there was a horrible smell wafting from inside the building. Like they have soaked the inside of the building with an air freshener. But those things weren’t what caused the 1 star review… the taste was! The taste of our snow balls was like LICKING an air freshener. It was insane! Even 15 minutes later, we were all wiping the taste out of our mouths. I was actually concerned that some of that material (cleaning material? Air freshener?) got into the snow ball because not even the usually delicious taste of the frogger flavors could mask the overpowering taste of air freshener. Is it toxic? I have genuine concerns. Perhaps it was a fluke. But we will unfortunately not be returning to this...

Arrived at the location at 8:15 PM all the lights inside were out, so we circled the parking lot to see if they were still opened. Parked and walked up to the window, and an employee opened it and stated that they were not yet closed but not all the way open, and if we wanted something we would have to come thru the drive thru and they would maybe help us. I asked if you didn’t close till 9, he stated that was true. I then asked why couldn’t you take my order at the window, and he stated that if he took it at the window he would have to walk back to the drive thru side and try to complete the order. Mind you all the lights in the building were off, and the open sign was still on. At this point I stated that it made no sense to get myself and three kids back in the vehicle and drive around once more to maybe be served. We got in our...
