Home Plate Grill — Restaurant in Goleta

I've eaten at Home Plate a few times now, and have even brought my colleagues from work with me twice. It is really really good! The people are awesome, the atmosphere is inviting, comfortable, and family-friendly, and everything that I've tried on the menu has been prepared with high-quality ingredients and has been delicious.

The sirloin burger may be one of, if not the, best burger sI've had in town. The chopped Italian salad is great, and really refreshing. The sliders were excellent. And, if you're in the mood for a more adult atmosphere, you can go to the bar next door and the folks from Home Plate will bring your food over to you, maybe a giant awesome pizza that you will want to gorge yourself with uncontrollably. Or get it by the slice!

Really, it's much better than Cal Taco or the other nearby options, and is well worth...

I attended an event on the patio designed to facilitate communication between the neighborhood and the new City Council member, Jennifer Smith. Between speakers and Q&A, I poked my head in to see the menu and observe the hardworking staff. This place clearly serves as a hub for those in the surrounding neighborhoods. I so admire that they provided a space for traffic engineers, planners, cops, and politicians to engage with the public. It was fun to watch staff members darting through the crowd to deliver delicious-looking plates to customers in the tavern a few doors down. I greatly enjoyed a few cups of coffee and chatting with officials and residents of this great community. Thank you, Home Plate for serving up some delicious democracy on a Saturday morning. Wow, I don't understand the good reviews on this place... We went with high expectations because of the great reviews... The pizzas were a disappointment... the thing crust was suggy and the pizzas flavor was nothing but salty... Newman's own frozen pizza or California Kitchen frozen pizzas are much tastier and with a better crispy thin crust than this over rated pizza.

The service was awful! We ordered the pizza for pick up and gave 30 minutes time before we arrived. We had to wait another 20 minutes because the pizzas were not ready... Was very inconvenient, and only excuses were given, no apologies or a discount...

Get a frozen pizza instead and put some extra mozzarella cheese and bake it without a tray and the crust will come out nice...
