I don't like conflict and neither does my husband, I stay quiet when someone is rude especially in a new place. My husband and I were visiting for the yearly parade and looking for a good restaurant in this small city. We were recommended to eat at Shiraz by a local, who said the food is ok and the bar has a good selection. While another local said it is the most disgusting place to eat, he rather spend the time and gas to drive down to Denver or garden city. My husband and I decided to try it out ourselves. The minute we got inside the front door you can feel the prejudice, we were the only Hispanics in the room and all eyes on us, like someone scratched a record. Then the hostess came and asked us to follow her cause there was no room in the main restaurant. when I looked around, I seen that yes, they were busy but there was 5 empty tables I had seen. The waitress sat us in a room on the side of the building away from everyone, with one other Hispanic couple in the same room. We ignored the fact that we were there and looked at the bright side at least it was calm and quiet. We asked what the popular menu item was, the waitress told us she didn't even work there so she didn't know she was only helping take orders. So we asked about the drinks, the girl was rude and said just pick what's on the menu and told my husband to find out what beer there was to go and see for himself at the bar, the bartender was also rude to my husband when he approached the bar asking what do you want, in and angry tone. My husband asked the bartender which bottled beer do you have, the bartender replied can't you see what I have. My husband had to correct the bartender and repeat bottled beer. Then lowering his tone, the bartender told my husband which bottled beers they had. We continued to stay there assuming it was just busy and everyone must of been tired. We ordered our food my husband a steak, veggies and baked potato and myself salmon, veggies and a baked potato. We waited about an hour give or take to receive our food which we didn't mind until our food got to the table... My Salmon was cold and no flavor seasoned with salt and pepper up top nothing great about it. My Husband and I tried eating our baked potatoes and they tasted like they came fresh out the freezer cold and hard. Our veggies tasted like they put them in the microwave for 30 secs and gave them to us. cold and soggy. My husbands steak was warm leaning more towards the colder side. This was the worst place I have ever eaten in the years we've spent traveling. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're a person of color, as I have been told similar stories by the colored locals. Save your money not worth it all with the horrible service and terrible food. If there was an option, I would give no stars. but that is my experience and i recommend you to go elsewhere. again...
Read moreTL;DR these people can't cook a steak to temperature to save their life. The manager is rude, and I would bet 10 perfectly cooked steaks that she responds to this.
The Goldilocks experience. I ordered the rib eye, rare, and after a understandably long wait on a busy night, I cut into it I saw that it was in fact medium well, and the waitress was gone. After getting her attention she apologized and admitted the mistake, taking the steak back and putting in the order for a replacement. After far too short of a wait another steak was dropped in front of me and off she went. Never in my life have I been served raw, barely seared meat. The inside had not even been heated enough for the juices to begin to run, and it was apparent from the temperature that it had gone straight from the fridge/freezer to the grill and had not been rested after cooking. AFTTER THIS I gave up, and as the person I was eating with had finished their meal I wasn't too keen to stick around, regardless of this, and not interested in a discount because why bother, I still asked our flighty but accommodating waitress to get the manager to inform them that their steaks were not being properly cooked. I was greeted by a middle aged woman who instead of apologizing berated me saying in fact that the first steak I had sent back she considered medium rare, and that the lump of frigid, congealed meat before me was in fact rare. AND THEN WENT SO FAR AS TO STATE THAT SHE HAS BEEN A CHEF FOR 5 YEARS AND STUDIED AT A COOKING SCHOOL IN DEVER. And furthermore that grill marks on the outside of the steak meant that it was rare. Lmfao, ma'am. From the start of the conversation I said that I did not want a discount and that something may be wrong with their chef/grill. For that I was berated and will never be returning. If I could award 0 stars I would. And the manager needs...
Read moreDriving across country I stopped here. I have Celiac disease and they accommodated me nicely. I noticed on their menu that all burgers are fresh and are never frozen. With being gf due to celiac I opted for a ribeye instead. 16oz, mashed potatoes and wild rice. The steak wasn't seasoned and basically grilled. I ordered medium rare but some about the stake just seemed off. Lifeless. Personally I don't grill my steak, I always broil it, season it and drench it in butter then au jus. To me they just took it out from the freezer or fridge and just put it on the grill. No seasoning and put pretty big chared lines across the steak. The steak was more white/gray than red. I wish I took a photo. Anywho the steak tasted like stake but lifeless and boring. The baked potatoe was good and the wild rice I didn't get around to eating. That all came out to about $45 so being in the middle of nowhere kinda on the high end. I wouldn't have cared as much for the price if the stake was less boring. If you like your steak how they make it then by all means go here. But if you're like me I'd eat elsewhere unless you get a burger or something. Maybe those are good.
Update to reflect the response from the business. I appreciate your responding to my comment and I understand that the menu prices reflect the state of the economy due to the vender raising prices. That's understandable. I still stand by how boring the steak was. Maybe it was a fluke who knows but it definitely happened. I hope future patrons gets a better tasting steak!...
