The front desk was really friendly and our check in was fast/easy. Our room was a bit old and could use a good face lift, but it was just fine for what we needed. We compared the price we paid for this hotel to several other hotels we stayed at on this trip, and thought maybe the price was a bit higher for this hotel than it should have been, but maybe that's the going rate in Goodland, KS...? The one thing that we weren't expecting was in the morning, the housekeeper told us we weren't allowed to bring our dog inside the large room where we go to pick up our continental breakfast. We read the pet agreement when we checked in and it didn't say anything about limitations for where the dog can go (specifically regarding the breakfast area). We know we're not supposed to leave our dog in the room unattended, and we know we can be asked to leave the hotel if our dog barks, so we weren't sure about where people were expected to leave their dogs while they eat. There was no signage on the door or elsewhere indicating that we weren't allowed to bring our dog inside (for literally a grab and go breakfast), nor was that written/verbal information conveyed to us at check-in. We've been to countless hotels with our dog and we've never had someone tell us that we weren't allowed to bring her into a pick-up (continental) breakfast area, so we thought other dog owners should be aware of this, before deciding to reserve a room at this hotel. Otherwise, our stay was uneventful, quiet, and...

In the midst of the bizarrely long drive from the Rocky Mountains to our home in Mid-Missouri, it was 8:30 at night after 10 hours on the road (including a drive up Pikes Peak) and we basically decided to stop at the next hotel we saw. In general, one thing that you can usually say about Super 8 is that they will be predictable. Since it was almost 9:00 and all the restaurants were closing, we ran into one of the few open restaurants, ordered food to go, and while we waited I used the Expedia app to book a room in about 2 minutes. Although there were other places, this one was very easy to get to from the highway, and I knew it would be adequate. It was. You can't say a lot, but you also can't really expect a lot for $80 a night at the last minute, which is what this place cost. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff at the front desk was kind. We didn't stop the next morning for breakfast, apparently they offered some kind of a breakfast. I believe it said there would be waffles, oatmeal, toast, that sort of thing. We were sort of exhausted, so I didn't take any pictures.
By the way, if you stop anywhere in Goodland, I have to recommend Tequilas Mexican restaurant. It is not right off the highway, but it is worth finding. We got carry out, but It was...
Read moreI liked meeting the owner of the hotel as he registered us at the front desk. He was warm and friendly. Any comments I made regarding my experience or concerns were directly heard by the owner. It would be nice if every hotel had the owner available at all times. This hotel was very clean as I expect any hotel to be. This is particularly important to me, because we recently stayed at another hotel (not Super8) that was filthy. The Goodland Super 8 is clean, clean, clean. It is also updated. There were plenty of cups(4) in the room. They even have a nice recliner. There is a table where I was able to comfortably sit and eat my sandwich. There is a very large black and white landscape photo over the bed that serves as a headboard. It is a wonderful design highlight. The king size bed is very comfortable. Even though the hotel is older, all surfaces and fixtures are new at this time. The breakfast room was clean, comfortable and easy to get to. It even has a convenient restroom. The pancake maker was fun and the pancakes tasted good. I have already told my family how great this hotel is. This is a well managed hotel with high standards. And the...
