Sugar & Spice — Restaurant in Goodyear

I’ve never written a review, but I read them ALL the time so I thought I’d finally pay it forward.

I just moved to the area at the beginning of April, and I’ve already visited this place 5+ times. Whether it be for coffee, donuts, or a breakfast sandwich/burrito I’ve never been disappointed. The quality and taste of everything have always been great.

The workers are friendly and polite. A lot of them are young, and I’ve noticed some may be a little more shy but never rude. Some of the reviews mention poor service but I wonder if it’s because those customers didn’t receive outwardly extroverted service. For some of these kids, this is probably their first job, so they’re still learning those service skills and how to deal with customers. I’ve personally never had a bad experience nor have I witnessed one.

Sometimes when it gets busy, the line can take longer to move because there’s only 2-3 people up front who are having to take orders, box donuts, make drinks, and check people out. On top of that, customers take a bit to decide which donuts they want and how to customize their food. I understand and don’t mind the wait because I know the quality is excellent. They make the sandwiches/burritos to order, so it’s always fresh and good quality ingredients.

I love visiting this place as it’s just a short walk from where I live. I don’t understand where the bad reviews are justified, but I do know they recently changed management so maybe that’s why. Sugar & Spice is a cute mom and pop shop that’s...

This place is easy to miss driving by but Google maps will get you there just fine. It's a bit tucked away in a small corner mall where the doors face in...not visible from the road. They have great Vietnamese coffee (condensed milk and coffee over ice) I believe its called the sugar n spice! I also had a breakfast sandwich. For a sandwich or burrito they have you "create your own" on a order slip so its just the way you want it. I chose a homemade crossiant, egg, avacado, mayo and bacon. It was a short wait for my order and I got it to-go. My sandwich was neatly wrapped and assembly neatly as well. Hot and delicious even after I got home...it didn't turn to mush in the process. I was very impressed. I will definitely go back and try more of the menu. They had an amazing looking pastry case! People were friendly and made recomendations when I asked. Although busy the place looked clean and organized. They have free wifi too so all and all... its a great morning spot.

We had been going since we moved here in 2017. The food is good, the bakery food is good. My issue is with the cleanliness. Unfortunately we knew someone that worked there briefly moving here and we were made aware of the grease traps shared with another restaurant and not cleaned. We would often go in and it would have a light smell of sewage. The bathroom (s) seem to be consistently out of order (where is the hand washing?!?). The tables for the eating guest are filthy! They literally have a smudgy feeling to them! I've observed the cook not wearing gloves, the last straw for me is when I saw him going through his hair with his hands and immediately those same hands were touching food for the sandwich he was making. I watched him go in and out of different drawers moving all about the kitchen touching various surfaces with his bare hands and then returning to handling food! That is not sanitary!
