Update: Our third visit was as good (Great!) as our first and second visits. This food is art! We've tried entrees from every part of the menu and loved each one. THIS is THE best Mexican restaurant in the North-Central part of Connecticut. Original post: I can't say enough about this restaurant! We are Mexican foodies and have dined from Matamoros to Tijuana, Anchorage to Santa Fe, San Antonio to Tucson, and from Florida to Maine. Las Potras stands at the top with the very best! First, the margaritas ... the Las Potras Margarita is made from freshly squeezed limes and lemons, quality tequila, and served on the rocks. I can't believe they squeeze the citrus fruits, but it is totally tasty. The other margaritas looked just as amazing, so I know that we'll be back to try some more. For appetizer, we ordered Street Corn, just like from Puerto Vallarta or Guadalajara, but we chose to have it off the cobb; it was topped with sour cream and mexican queso. It was pleasantly spiced, flavorful and delicious! An excellent starter. Main courses were the Al Pastor Chimichanga and Octopus a la Diabla. The Chimichanga enclosed sautéed pineapple (not too much!) and braised pork, and was topped with green tomatillo sauce. My wife said it was tasty and satisfying (she always get chimis if she can). My Octopus a la Diabla was amazing. I have not had this dish before, but I have liked octopus in other cuisines ... This was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. The diabla sauce was divine! It had the right amount of zing! and a hearty, spiced chile base similar to what I've had in Albuquerque. The service for our meal was spot-on. Brenda (?) was pleasant and attentive. We ate in on a Monday, so tables were available when we walked in. Honestly, my biggest concern is that enough people learn about this wonderful place that it becomes too popular. This establishment is obviously a work of love. They craft great food and are not afraid of dipping deep into the best of Mexican cuisine. They are bold enough to charge well for good food. I appreciate that. The restaurant is a business, after all. And with this quality of food, they are sure to do well. Felicidades y gracias!

We were very impressed with the food and service here. It was our first meal at this 1 yr old eatery. They do, unfortunately, use Canola oil, dang. But they were more than kind switching it out for olive oil and butter for every dish ish we ordered, and were meticulous about changing us from refried to black beans to avoid even pre-made Canola-laden food. Kennedy was a caring young man serving us, and his mom Adrianna, backed him up to assure our complete satisfaction. This is a family place. I asked if the kitchen crew were also family. Adrianna smiled and said, “Yes, different family, but family.” We enjoyed a top sirloin steak with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled (olive oil) onions. So delicious. And my birthday hubby had Cameron’s(shrimp) al mojo (garlic sauce), which was wonderful to his last spoonful of sauce. We topped off a perfect dinner with the best flan ever, swimming in caramel, generous and so beautiful. We shall return.

First time visiting this restaurant. I believe it’s relatively new and glad we found it. We arrived around 530p on a Friday night and by 630 it was pretty busy. The service was very good and attentive. The food was delicious and tasted fresh. We were quickly brought out chips and salsa. I will include pics of the food. If you like Mexican this is a place you should definitely try. I got a las potras bowl with steak and wife got spinach enchiladas. For desert the tres leches cake was super moist and deliciously sweet. Price was very reasonable. I wish them the best.

I love Mexican food and had been wanting to try Las Potras. I am fussy about Mexican food. It can be wonderful but most of it is lackluster. This place did not disappoint. I had the Enchiladas Jalisco (3 corn tortillas: shredded chicken, jack cheese and ground beef, each with it's own sauce). Simply fresh and delicious and seasoned just right. I normally don't finish the usual sides of refried beans and rice. Fresh refried beans almost sounds like an oxymoron, but so good I devoured them. My wife is a vegetarian, she saw I had rice that looked better than her's. She tasted it and found it tasted better too. When she asked the server for some. She learned part of the reason it was better is than mine had chicken stock in it. She was a bit disappointed in her veggie bowl. Luckily for me, and my fellow carnivores, there are many excellent things to choose from. The prices are probably a bit higher than average. But from what I've had so far well worth it. Service was a little slow at times and we seemed to get too much attention at others. I'm sure they will smooth it out. They have only been open a couple months and are still waiting for their liquor license. I will...

My family and I drove from Westfield to eat at La Fajata for my mother’s birthday dinner. She spoke highly of the pizza which led us there. It was a quiet night almost no one in house and we were seated in the far back corner which was odd. Soon after being seated we noticed a family of fruit flies on the window and asked to be seated else wear. We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 pastas along with a side of bread and dipping oil. The bread tasted like play doh and the olive oil was not authentic. We asked for light sauce on one of the pastas and received more than I would ever put on a bowl of spaghetti. They got our pizza wrong which the staff was apologetic about. What really pissed us off is that they brought us out a pitty appetizer to win us back over. It was meatballs laying in ricotta and topped with pesto. I ended up trying it and was unhappy with everything about it. It was one of the ugliest dishes I have been served at a restaurant to this day. All and all I would not recommend this...
