Stopped in for Lunch on 7/28/2021. Seated right away and our order was taken right away. We ordered a build-a-burger and a Club Sandwich with onion rings. All the food was hot, ample portions served exactly as ordered and tasted excellent. - That got them 2 of the 5 stars. The rest of the experience was difficult. Most restaurants are short-staffed so we were understanding of a longer wait- however, this was 45 min wait with zero updates from the staff.
But the reason we wont be returning is due to how disgusting it felt inside the restaurants. The carpeted floors of the dining area were beyond gross. I felt like disinfecting my shoes after we left. One would expect an "old time" "old fashion" theme to this beautiful historic building - however Miss Lilly's instead has a grungy, dirty, unkept feeling to it- not a "greasy spoon" diner feel- but dirty unsanitary feel.. Even at the cash register counter- junk scattered around, papers, pens, cigarettes, etc just cluttering up the entire counter. When they cant even keep the customer counter cleared or at least gently organized, it makes you wonder what's going on in the back kitchen. In the photo it may be hard to see- but the carpet appears almost wet or oily it's so stained. It really is nauseating. One last atmosphere note- it was super humid and warm in the dining area- on top of the other atmosphere issues- this also added to the negative impression. We had no issue with the staff, other than we'd have hoped for updated to our order and checking on how it was once...
Read moreThe service was extremely dull. We only had 9 people, and there was only 2 customers and a child in the entire place when we arrived (spur of the moment spot to eat, no real planning gone into it). We were scolded as soon as we walked in that we should have called a long time ago because they only have one server on. (It's a freaking Saturday afternoon, man. Come on) Waitress must have had no idea how to order her booklet, because she was scrambled to take drink orders, could not remember what any single person had to drink at the table (again, we were the only ones there minus a 3 top), and missed only minor order details. The menu is a little misleading, item descriptions could be updated to actually portray an accurate description of the food served. Items were 86'd and with personal opinion speaking, the 86'd items should be the first thing mentioned to the table (or second behind the specials). Overall food was great quality, really commend the line cook. Like that was the whole redeeming factor. Fries were cooked perfectly, not the slightest bit overdone. Sandwiches were beautiful, the Manhattans looked amazing. All of the food was marvelous, even though it seemed the ingredients used may be simple. I expected an auto-grat to be put on the bill, but instead of just writing the total at the bottom plus the percentage but not indicating what all of your writing was, either write "auto-grat" or say something. A few members of the party...
Read moreOur first time visit will NOT be our last. We were greeted immediately and given our choice of tables. The decor is a throwback to another, more relaxed period of time. The multiple, unmatched tables and chairs give Miss Lily's an additional element of comfort. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful without being overbearing. The service may have been a little quicker since Monday is an admitted slow day,but I don't think it is too much slower on any other day except maybe a special occasion. The food was hot and delicious AND plentiful. The salad bar items were fresh with a good variety. All items on the menu are homemade except for the beverages. The desserts are outstanding, especially the rhubarb / strawberry pie. EVERYBODY has an off day. EVERYONE!!! We had a great experience and expect to have more. Those who don't understand having down days or a casual atmosphere just think too much...
