I had to be in this small but very pleasant town for a few weeks for work. I came I guess a couple of weeks after they opened. I have ate breakfast, lunch, & dinner here. They started off with a bang. It was good and they were eager to please. I will not be back again however as it has went so downhill in a month that I can not imagine them making it a year. The staff is great. The issues are not with them, from what I can see it is with management and how they run things. I choose a buffet for the variety, but they have none. They serve the exact same thing daily for lunch. The all day breakfast isn't that. It is dinner with a side of breakfast. When I go to other Shoney's with all day breakfast they have cereal and it is set up like the morning breakfast. It wasn't and it was horrible. It could've been great but they were concentrating on the other items so the breakfast suffered. Lettuce was wilted three days in a row even though I witnessed a customer ask for fresh, they brought more out but it was also wilted. Maybe a bad batch that should've been caught and sent back by management? I don't know but yuck! The ice cream machine is rarely on. The list could go on for miles. I even witnessed a manager yell at an employee for something that would've been her fault. Plus side is it is very clean with the exception of the gnats and the waitresses are very sweet. A younger guy working the bar who must be a manager too as he was in white is very good and nice as well, unlike the older gentlemen who was rude and made me feel like burden when I was getting to the food. I understand they had several workers from other stores here for a little while after opening, I would think they need to send the manager to one of the successful stores I have been to in TN. Like I said it has great potential with the current staff but not current management. Not to mention it can't be all good as almost the entire serving staff has already changed because so many have quit and walked out. Get it...
Read moreNot a good experience. Upon arriving, staff (including the manager) were outside the front entrance smoking cigarettes. When we walked in, we had to wait on staff to return from outside for us to be seated and the people at the front register to be waited on to pay their bill. We were seated and ordered our food. Our waitress (Angela) was very nice and helpful. We waited about 15-20 minutes on our food. The food was not that great. I ordered a Philly and cheese and my fiancé ordered a burger. Mine was ok, and his was not done in the middle. Another couple also sent their order back because it was not done. We were almost finished when the manager brought 2 plates by to serve us. They were not ours, but the table next to us. She went there and dropped the plate on the table because she tipped the tray and almost dropped the plate on the tray. This place was not very clean, the table still had salt on it, the add papers had old food stains on them and the buffet looked gross. The manager was not neatly dressed (hair a mess, shirt flopping everywhere and not tucked in) she tried to wait on us at the end and take the tip we had set out for our waitress. The only good thing I can say about this restaurant was we had a great waitress. All in all, we will not return, and will discourage...
Read moreWe went to Shoney's on a Tuesday, early afternoon, so the place was not busy. We chose the bar, but the food was so terrible that we attempted two or three main items in hopes of getting something better. We told the waitress that we were dissatisfied with the food and her response was "tell the manager when you get to the register". Of course, the manager just said that she would let the regional manager know. There was no offer to reduce the price or offer a discount for the food that we could not eat. Some of the family left Shoney's and headed to KFC to get edible food. Anything would be better than the food on the bar that day.
I would not recommend this place unless you're looking for...
