I have been to this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed good food and service, until yesterday 5/26/2022 at lunch time. We sat ourselves in the bar area like we normally do at a table. The waitress/bartender greeted us right away and came over to get our drink orders and ask if we would like a menu and everything started out great. She served our bread and sides along with drinks. Once our orders of spaghetti came out, my boyfriend asked if he could have parmesan using the americanized pronunciation for it. She brought it back to us and then went behind the bar and started making jokes about "parmijhan" with 2 other customers in there. And proceeded to do this for the next half an hour on and off. I wanted to say something but I didn't, because my boyfriend may have became embarrassed knowing they had been joking about him the entire time. We are all educated from various sources, whether it be our heritage, our friends, family, the media, personal experiences or from the educational systems in different regions. Many other factors can play a role in our education. I for one am a nurse. Most people use the terminology "heart attack" when referring to when ones heart stops beating suddenly. I do also to patients who aren't educated in medical terminology. To my colleagues, we use the correct terminology of myocardial infarction. We would never stand together making jokes about "heart attack" because a patient wasn't educated about the terminology, especially with patients in the same room. My boyfriend is a trucker who has been driving for 30 years, knows every make model and year of every single truck we pass, even from 50 years ago. I do not though he teaches me something every day about trucks. I wasn't educated in trucks. My point being this, he may not have been taught the Italian pronunciation of Parmigiano/Parmesan because he was taught the Americanized version of it and nobody has told him different in his 50 yrs. "Parmijhan" is acceptable where we live 40 miles north in NY. And we never have been made to feel less than because of our pronunciation of the word. Rather than make me feel uncomfortable our entire lunch, I'd rather her have said "hey, you know in Italian we say it "parmazhan" and made it an educational experience for him and would have been a much more pleasant lunch for me. He changed his route by a lot of miles so we could enjoy lunch there, as we have in the past. We have spent over $100 at a time there when the staff and owner made us feel welcome. We have in the past tipped very well for the good service. Yesterday we left with a $40 bill and tipped the typical 20% rather than more. If he would have realized what she was doing I'd have talked him into walking out with a much smaller tip for the embarrassment. But since I was the only one embarrassed by her actions I didn't feel right in saying anything at that point. However, I maybe not suggest we go out of our way to get there again...
Read moreI would never recommend this establishment to even my worst enemy. My friends and I decided to give this place a try because it was close by and were in a rush to find somewhere to eat. Upon arrival, we could tell from the outside the restaurant would not be too great, but were too hungry to search somewhere else and decided to eat there. We go in and the waiter shows us to the table, the table was sticky so i doubt it was wiped down from the previous group there. Some of us decided on getting the pasta, the menu does not state anything about being charged extra for sauces or toppings in the meal. The pasta was not mixed well while being cooked because the noodles were one solid piece and the “carbonara sauce” was pretty much just a bowl of old kitchen oil poured into the pasta. My girlfriend commented to the waitress that this dish did not look edible and requested to get a cheaper meal to eat to make up for it. The waitress rudely refused and tried to charge for both. Out of 8 of us, nobody was satisfied or had even eaten a quarter of our meal. We decided we did not want to tip such terrible and rude service, but when we received our checks, they added in a tip of there own choosing of 18%. We asked them why and they could not give us a clear answer and tried saying that “all restaurants do that”. Seriously...? This place is a scam! We shrug it of and pay anyways and then as we are pulling out a waitress chases our car down claiming we didnt pay. We follow her back in to see who didnt pay and she then says she made an error and that we could leave... wow thanks I didn’t know this was a jail. Please do your self a favor and stay away...
