I absolutely love the food and atmosphere at Aubrey’s. When I moved to the area, it quickly became a favorite. And it has a gluten free menu which is a plus since I am gluten intolerant and have pretty severe gastrointestinal symptoms when I’m exposed to gluten. I realize that restaurants cannot guarantee a completely gluten free environment but when they have an allergen menu, I do expect them to be somewhat knowledgeable of allergens and what is in their food. Multiple times, I have been served the Parmesan spinach after ordering sautéed spinach. The manager last night told me that the Parmesan spinach was gluten free according his chef. The chef needs instruction as the Parmesan spinach is NOT gluten free, contains flower and is NOT listed on the gluten free menu. Now, even after ordering on the gluten free menu, I have yet to eat a meal from Aubrey’s that does not include multiple trips to the bathroom and cramping once I get home. These are clear symptoms for me that my food contained some sort of glutinous item. I suspect they use a grill base that contains flour as this has happened when I have ordered both the ribeye and the grilled salmon. Perhaps the chef and manager should be more aware of where allergens could be hidden in recipes and in spices or grill bastes or other areas. A caring restaurant would actually clean the grill and use clean utensils when an allergy is mentioned. Especially since I know the servers have to make note of the leech as they told me this. I have been to pizza places that serve gluten free pizzas that have taken much more care with my meal. I’d like to have a nice meal without feeling poisoned afterwards. I hope they will take more care in the future but I don’t think I can risk eating there anymore and I would be wary if I had allergies...
Read moreI seriously considered making this 3 stars but what tipped the balance down to 2 stars was the price point. I wouldn’t be real surprised by mistakes and bad service at a lower tier restaurant but at $25-30 a plate there is a certain expectation. The Positives: All the food I ate was excellent. The fries were hot, the burger was delicious, and the chicken corn chowder was unusually good. Oh, and the house ranch was a great dipping sauce for the fries. The Negatives: The group I came with was not as fortunate as me.
Food: A plate of salmon was sent back far undercooked, medium rare burgers were medium well, and all the toppings of a loaded baked potato were forgotten by the servers. I want to make clear we aren’t reviewing our waitress who was doing what she could in a bad situation. Requests from the table were repeatedly fulfilled incorrectly or forgotten completely. Water wasn't refilled until the waitress was asked specifically.
Atmosphere: Almost everyone in the 8 person group was very cold in the restaurant. However, I do understand that temperature can’t be changed for one group of customers. They also seated us by pushing two tables together. This would have been perfectly normal except that the lighting at Aubrey’s is very specific. Little overhead lights fit each table perfectly. So the result of pushing two together means some people will sit in complete darkness or halfway in the ambient light.
If you want a de-stressing evening with a good meal and good atmosphere I couldn’t recommend Aubrey’s. Other restaurants can provide much better. I do want some more of those fries and special...
Read moreWent to Aubrey’s to eat in Greeneville Tn location today around 7:00pm. We decided to sit outside. We sit for 30 mins waiting for someone take our drink order and girl taking care outside area walked past I know 4 times. While seeing to the tables to the left and right of us and passing by us each time. Our two kids was anxious to get a drink and eat. We left the menus on the table walked out the gate in outside area and went elsewhere. Girl waiting outside area had tattoo symbols looked to be Japanese could see, but never stopped or was able see the name or truly cared to ask. We tried patiently wait and found hard believe was suppose been someone else waiting our table when she had every table each side of us. We was getting beyond frustrated and confused why we kept getting passed up and I done said one more time comes by we was just going to leave and we did. Usually been ok place eat and been taken care of if order (steaks mainly over cooked by far) and was done wrong or had any problems in past without issue. This time we didn’t even get a drink order put in and the 30 mins she was continually coming here there taking care the other tables beside us. Me nor my wife knew her personally so was really no understanding why we was the only table getting ignored. We only visit maybe 4 to 6 times year to eat there and now i don’t know if will go back or even recommend others I know go there. Was and not happy with service of...
