We had heard good things about Mi Corazon from several people, so despite the 45min drive we headed out to give this restaurant a try.
Lighting inside maybe could’ve been a bit lower for a better atmosphere but I liked that they had live music on the Friday night that we were there.
Food-wise the menu has pretty much all the standards you’d expect from a Mexican restaurant. As a vegetarian it was nothing special but they at least had veggie offerings of all the major dishes (burrito, enchilada, quesadillas, etc). The elote street corn I had was good — very lime forward. Everything was plated very well but I think they could do a better job cooking things, the veggies in our burritos and enchiladas were a bit on the al dente side. The staples like guacamole and salsa were solid but nothing exceptional. Still, ingredients all seemed very high quality and not cheap.
Service was good. Once they took our order we had our drinks and meal very quickly. Reservations are easy to make online but in hindsight we probably would’ve been fine without one.
Overall — would we drive 45min again to eat here? Maybe. It’s a high quality Mexican restaurant for New Hampshire (especially for small town of 1700) but compared to the offerings of western states like Colorado or California it’s...
Read moreI'm glad to see all the positive reviews, so I'll preface mine by saying that I think we caught them on an off night, or they weren't equipped to deal with a larger group (6+).
The food was decent. Good by New England Mexican food standards, but not spectacular; similar overall to Mi Jalisco in Peterborough. Portions were generous, although I did think it was a little pricey.
Atmosphere was generally good. It's a nice, open, clean, attractive space, but it was somewhat echoey and the music was loud, making it a little hard to hear and talk across the table. The restaurant was probably 50% full when we got there. Not too crowded.
Service was... OK. The waitstaff was very friendly and patient, so no complaints there. It took quite a while to get our food, but we were a larger group so I get that. However, the only appetizer we ordered didn't arrive until after our main courses (when we asked about it again) and one person's main course took an additional 10+ minutes to come out after everyone else's.
So overall, not sure I'd go back, especially as a larger group. I think that issue could be helped if they took reservations though. Or maybe the kitchen was just short-staffed tonight. In any case, if you're in the area and like Mexican food, it's worth checking out...
Read moreWe moved to NH from Texas last year and it has been a struggle finding decent Mexican food in the area. We live in the Monadnock region and have had to drive to Manchester to find decent Mexican food.
This past weekend, we were headed to Manchester for Mexican food and got stuck in traffic near Greenfield due to a vehicle accident. On a whim, we made a U-turn and went to Mi Corazon because we were hungry.
Everything was delicious! The chips and salsa were great! I had steak and al pastor tacos and they were right up there with some of the better street tacos I had back in Texas. The kids ate all of their food the refried beans are a little different, but they were still very good.
Service was a bit slow, but that seemed to he due to staffing shortages, however, the server was pleasant, got our order correct, and ensured our drink glasses didn’t go empty.
While we have several Mexican restaurants closer to us, we will drive the extra 5-10 minutes to go here for now on when we’re craving...
