First visit: 6/11/2022: I was glad to have found a bakery that had a variety of breads available. On Saturday late morning, I stopped by for the first time to try their sourdough. I typically bake myself, but since traveling, I have not had access to an oven.
I parked in the back on gravel (plenty of parking) and walked in the store that looks like a regular house. The display was well-organized. I asked the associate for recommendations. She described different quiche options and I picked a mushroom and spinach ($11), which turned out to be pretty amazing after heating it up in a toaster oven. I ate it all...
I also picked up a walnut croissant ($6), but was a bit disappointed by the dough. Typically, I like my croissants crunchy and flaky on the outside and airy on the inside. This had more of a doughy structure with only a few "bubbles" trapped through layering of the butter and dough. The filling was delicious, but I am not sure I would get it again.
By late morning when I got to the store, there were only a few loaves of bread left. I picked up the last whole wheat one ($11 - I think...). It was nice and airy, although the crust was not as "crusty" as I like it. I tasted a hint of sourdough, which was quite delicious.
It is definitely not an inexpensive bakery, but I will be back next week to try other baked goods.
Second visit 6/18/2022: This is the second time I visited this bakery. I decided to buy something different. Today I got a blueberry fold, basil mozzarella quiche and the same whole wheat boule I got last time.
Let's start with the whole wheat bread. For whatever reason it was much smaller in size than the one I purchased before, although I was still impressed with its airy structure and softness. Basil mozzarella quiche was just as good as a mushroom spinach one that I got last week. I love the crust they make, top notch.
Blueberry fold was something completely new. The dough itself reminded me of the croissant dough, and the topping was not overly sweet, in fact, a bit sour with a hint of berries. It was generously covered with blueberries on top. Quite a delicious pastry that I would consider buying again.
I have to highlight the customer service experience. A week ago I came at the time where there was nobody there, today there was a line almost outside. The staff was quick and efficient moving everyone quickly. I will be back!
Third visit 6/25/22. On my third visit, I decided to try something completely new.
I've been craving something salty, so prosciutto and mozzarella pastry sounded like something I could enjoy today. Indeed, when I got home, the pastry was still nice and warm. It was probably by far the best pastry I've tried here. The layers of prosciutto, cheese and a few cherry tomatoes on top were perfectly encased in delicious croissant-like dough. I had half of it, and then 15 minutes later finished the whole thing.
Now on to the desserts. I'm a huge fan of coconut cream pie, and since I came at 9:30 a.m. today, right when they opened, I was able to steal a slice. It was a bit on a sweeter side than I prefer, but delicious nevertheless. The fluffy consistency of cream and firmness of pastry were a perfect combination.
A chocolate cruffin was something I've never tried before either. I sliced it in half to see what was inside and was a bit disappointed to realize that filling only went about an inch and a half into the cruffin. The dough was flaky, but not really croissant-like. Just like I noted in my original review, the croissant dough is definitely different from what I am used to. It's not as flaky and more doughy. Also, the pastry was covered in finely ground sugar, but not fine enough to be considered powdered sugar. Probably it is just my preference, but I would prefer powdered sugar. The texture of crunchy sugar was just not something I enjoyed very much. I don't think I would buy this pastry again.
Mini blueberry pie. I was surprised how soaked it was. I cut a slice and was surprised by the texture of the filling which to me should have...
Read moreLove much of what I’ve had from the bakery however a couple of months back I bought two cruffins. These had a very bitter, chemical taste that made me throw them in the trash. At $7 each, I wanted to love them. My wife and daughter both tried them and spit it out. Maybe a month later, I bought another one to try it again and shared with my co-workers - they also could not eat it for the same reason. All five of us are not making this up. A few weeks later and after buying almost $70 worth of other items, I decided to let the bakery know - if it were my business, I would want to be made aware. I was very polite and quiet when i mentioned this and I wasn’t even asking for my $21 back. The owner (I presume she is the owner) said “that’s impossible” and suggested that lemon tastes bitter or that I had eaten something prior that made it taste like that - which is completely ridiculous. She proceeded to argue and belittled me. I happened to notice that the cruffins didn’t look to be selling - interesting. No one is perfect and she’d be better off realizing that and accepting constructive criticism - I was letting her know for her benefit. Not only will I stop recommending this bakery, I won’t be going back anytime soon. Awful customer service - some of the worst I’ve experienced.
UPDATE: I just recently went back and another item (a sort of blueberry pastry with cream in the middle) tasted the exact same way - bitter. I let three people try it and they all winced at the flavor. It's unthinkable that this is still an issue and that others have not complained - or maybe they have, who knows. Please Augustino, please listen - this is a problem and you'd better off considering that just maybe there is come credibility to the claim. Another long break from this bakery...
Read moreI dont live close to here so I dont know the backstory on why they are only open two days a week. I stumbled on this place purely by chance. It is pricey but you can tell the products are top notch and the taste of items purchases were really fantastic. I got a bar (I think it was called Honey Pecan), a goat cheese quiche (not mini but not full sized), a sticky bun and a loaf of organic sourdough bread. I remember the bread was $9 and they do offer to slice it in back. The interior is small but I like the way they display items behind glass with descriptions written on front. PARKING is a nightmare. Only a couple places in front and it looks like they have tons of room in back but I think there is another business back there and can only fit a few more cars and very back seemed to have road torn up. I was there on a Wednesday afternoon and it was packed with people coming in to parking lot and not enough room to get cars by when one is entering and another leaving. A lady in line behind me was a regular and raved about all items.
Honey pecan bar: looked like it would bee very sweet but it was perfect. Moist and slam full of nuts.
Organic sourdough: it was very tangy. Hearty yet light inside with this sheen when cut. Unlike any sourdough I ever had.
Sticky bun: Had hole in top with loads of pecans. Good.
Goat cheese medium quiche had an incredible crust and was very tasty.
Building itself is very nice but interior needs to be a little larger in my opinion. If had better parking it would be darn near perfect (if you dont mind paying for itemsl...
