Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Greenville

I had a terrible experience with them tonight. The short version: they delivered the wrong pizza, argued with me that it was correct, initially declined to replace the order or issue a refund, and when I convinced them to replace the pizza, took an additional hour and a half to deliver my replacement pizza. I will not order from them again.

I ordered two pizzas and chicken poppers at 7:24 on their website. They delivered through Door Dash, and one of the pizzas was a cheese pizza instead of the pepperoni stuffed crust meatball pizza with extra sauce which I actually ordered. I called them immediately---this was at 8:24, so it took them about an hour to deliver---and asked for a replacement pizza to be delivered.

First, the woman on the phone---she never identified herself---told me that because it was Door Dash, my only options were either to contact Door Dash for a refund (again, I must emphasize that I ordered from Papa John's directly, did not have any contact with Door Dash, and until I called to report the mistake, did not know that my order would be through Door Dash), or to accept a store credit for a future order. Needless to say, I did not accept this. After fifteen minutes---during which the second employee (who also did not identify herself) told me that she watched the pizza being made and that it had meatballs, and directed me to bring the wrong pizza to the store so she could see it---she finally agreed to deliver the correct pizza to me.

At 9:42, I called again, and was told---once again by an employee who did not identify herself---that they were making my replacement pizza, that it would take ten minutes to cook and that they would then send it out for delivery. I was really surprised, since at this point it was more than two hours after my initial order. I politely but firmly told the employee that the level of customer service I had received was appallingly bad, that I intended to file a complaint with the franchise owner and with the corporate office, and that they had lost a customer. I feel it necessary to emphasize that I did not curse, yell, raise my voice or anything of the sort. She said "okay" and hung up.

Fortunately, they did deliver the correct pizza at 10:05, once again through a Door Dash driver. I know this because I asked him to notify the store of my displeasure at a terrible customer service experience, and he explained that he was with Door Dash, not with Papa John's. I apologized to him, since he was a third party who knew nothing of the situation, and he said that it was fine, and that I just needed to get it off my chest. He was superb, and the only bright spot in the entire chain of events.

What can I say other than nasty! I love papa John’s but this place wow! The pizza was hard as a rock and felt and looked like it was out for 2 days. The boneless wings I got were also old and dry! I got them with sauce and all I got was a little drizzle. The older lady working there didn’t have a clue about my order she said it’s still in the oven it’ll be a minute so I wait and then watch her pick up a already made order that I saw sitting there when I walked in! Then I asked for sauce bc I didn’t get any when I ordered it and she tells me oh there was a minus in your order so you didn’t get it when in fact I checked my email and sure enough there it was. I still got my sauce.

Gave it a second chance and sure enough I ordered cheese pizza got it delivered and got bread sticks Then I order again and went to pick up and sure enough bread sticks again thought it was my fault got home looked at my email and noticed it was in fact suppose to be a pizza!!! So these idiots...

The first time placing an order through Door Dash delivery service and the delivery driver was kind as usual. And I must say the Honey Chicken Poppers are good, and the Thin Crust Pizza is pretty good but not exactly what I expected. It's either how I had the pizza customized or how the person made it. But it's okay - it's really sweet but not too bad. I think it's because it's thin crust and the ingredients on it lol...guessing I'm just slightly dissatisfied with how I chose to customize it because it didn't come out the way I expected. Plus the food wasn't even that warm, so that's a negative. Other than that, I will probably order from Papa John's again in the future. Perhaps my vote will change...
