My husband and I happen to be in the area Greenville North Carolina. We asked where we could get some good soul food. The locals told us RJ's famous chicken barbecue spot. I sent a few pictures of what I ordered. The catfish was good however the rest of my sides had no seasoning at all. The greens, cabbage, yams and macaroni cheese could use some additional seasoning. The collard greens had no seasoning. I also tried the black eyed peas, that had too much sugar in them. Maybe that is the North Carolina way to make black eyed peas but I wasn't raised with black eyed peas having sugar in them. I'm from the Midwest. The Cabbage was bland. I actually enjoy the catfish. Having cabbage, greens and black-eyed peas you'd think the place would have cornbread, they had no cornbread availableš³And I was told they were out of potato salad ; this was around 2pm in the afternoon. If you know potato salad is a popular item in your restaurant you should make it in abundance and not have customers come in to be told that you're out of it for the day. What a disappointment! All my side, I'm going to take back home to Virginia which is about two and a half hours away and put my own seasoning in all of these side dishes and try to revive them with some seasonings! If I'm ever down this way again I'm going to try another Soul Food Spot and maybe I can get some good soul food with good flavors...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreParty of seven, five from out of town. Previously came before a few years back with my brother in law, who unfortunately is the reason why we're back in the area. He is currently in the hospital. Food was good and customers service was great the last the time, my brother in law suggested we go back without him. My sister-in-law order with her food aside of shrimp. She was told that the shrimp needed to be cooked. She stated okay. Paid for all her food. We are all talking, enjoying ourselves 35 minutes past and still no shrimp. My sister-in-law goes up to inquire about the shrimp. They hadn't even started cooking her shrimp, and a customer who came just came in drop shrimp for them. My sister-in-law said since they had not started cooking her shrimp can she have a refund up for money. They told my sister-in-law no refunds. Horrible customer service based on what happened. If you forget to cook somebody's food and that person doesn't want to wait around to get that food cooked, you should give them a refund. They just lost seven customers. Two actually living in the area and this was their...
