Love the food and the wait times are short. Though I will say for the first time in my life I intentionally left a bad tip. I sort of jokingly asked my server -- do they at least pay her more than the average server wage for taking all those phone calls (I am a server and make $2.83/hr so I live off tips). I was really pointing out the fact that she does more work than a regular server, I was trying to be nice. She defensively came back with "No, they pay me good. I'm not living off of $2 an hour". That was pretty offensive to me, and the truth of it was I waited a long time on her and the other servers were picking up the slack, but I saw how much work she had in front of her (Saturday dinner) so I never copped an attitude. I said back "oh, well I do" in reference to the "$2/hr" comment and I left a short tip. That was rude, I make like $20-40/hr depending on the day, and hopefully she learned something from it. Plenty of my customers have asked about how my pay works and I've never once felt the least bit defensive about it. This was the only time I ever had a long wait there and it wasn't anyone's fault; they were just busy on a weekend. Despite the fact that I didn't like that specific interaction with my server, I will still always go back for their food -- and would encourage anyone else to as well.. it is some of the best Chinese food I've had and I'm picky about my Chinese spots. Otherwise every person I've dealt with has been nothing...
Read moreThis was a planned trip based on word-of-mouth from friends who've been here.
They are open every day except Tuesday and there's plenty of free parking.
I do not yet know if this is typical here but they are running the lunch menu with one single server. She's moving quickly. We waited perhaps seven minutes to be approached for our drink order. We went ahead and ordered our food as well.
We both ordered General Tsao's Chicken with fried rice. Sandy opted for the eggroll and I got the Hot & Sour soup.
Two minutes later our server brought our drinks as well as wontons and duck sauce.
Five minutes later she brought each of us an eggroll. We reminded her that I ordered the soup. She apologized, brought my soup and I got a free eggroll, which was homemade and delicious.
The entree was not disappointing either. Plentiful and perfectly spicy. The soup was also spot-on.
There was so much on our plates we had to request boxes to enjoy it again later.
Such a satisfying meal at $12 each is an incredible find.
I highly recommend a visit is you're...
Read moreI thought of this idea back in 2012 when I realized there was no Chinese or oriental or Asian food available in the valley. My ex-wife of now hates the smell of Oriental food and refuses to eat it, but I tried to convince her to at least try and cook it. I could teach her. I've been making it for 25 maybe 30 years now on my own even though I'm native American and American? But she chose not to let me try and get a restaurant set up in the valley in Penns Valley. This place has the highest quality and standard in Asian food that you're going to find in Penns Valley. I give them the highest marks possible via me. That means a lot to a lot of people that follow me on Google maps. So if you're in the area and you want some Chinese food is most call it in America when the east coast. Please don't hesitate to stop and order some food. Does it cost a little bit of premium? Yes it does but it's worse. The money they put the highest ingredients into the food in the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Once again I personally give him...
