Hen house is a cute little cafe with really good service, nice atmosphere and good food. I ordered the breakfast burrito which was good. My only request would be to have options on the meat instead of just chorizo (sausage, bacon, or combo). The burrito is a decent portion size and certainly could be shared by two adults. It also comes with a fruit bowl, sour cream, and salsa (very mild). They do have an assortment of hot sauces for those who love hot sauce (me). I also ordered the latte and that was really good too. I’d love to see some sugar free flavor options for the coffee, but otherwise it’s pretty good coffee. The service is great. The waitress taking my order was very polite and pleasant. This is the type of place you order at the counter and pay, then they bring it to you when it’s ready. The food was also ready quickly. The atmosphere is nice, there’s plenty of seating, and a variety of seating options (booths, tables, large banquet type table, and couches). It’s not too loud inside which is conducive to conversations with friends or families. Overall a great visit here. Thanks!

So glad this place opened! Truly gluten free (their gluten baked goods are prepared at Tartine for now, so there’s no AP flour flying around the baking kitchen), nothing here disappoints. Inside, it’s spacious and homey. I got the GF sourdough breakfast sandwich with eggs & bacon & cheese, and my friend got the breakfast burrito with chorizo, eggs, potatoes & cheese. We both saved half for later, although we could have finished it right then. I couldn’t tell the sourdough was GF. Texture was perfect. We also got a GF oatmeal cream pie that was ridiculously good. The coffee was great. And if you want to get tea, there is a great selection with individual tea pots and mini hourglass tea timers. Super great to see this new option for my GF peeps and gluten full peeps alike. I don’t even need GF and I really thought everything was terrific. Staff was super nice and explained everything incredibly well, and it wasn’t at all unreasonable for 2 people for brunch. I will totally be back.

This restaurant is such a gem!!! If you are local to New Orleans or are visiting and are gluten free this is a must visit!! The atmosphere is so cute and eclectic, the staff is incredibly friendly, kind and so helpful. It’s only a short drive from the convention center area and is locally owned. The food was delicious and the bakery items are unbelievable. Can’t recommend them enough!!

I live within walking distance so I always order takeout, mostly online. Occasionally, I will get something else for my mom. She usually wants one of their baked goods so I always go in-person to know what varieties are available. Twice I had to go home with just her food, place an online order for what I want, and walk back because the cashiers always assumed I’m ordering for one person for takeout. First instance, cashier closed out the order before I can finish so I only had my mom’s food (maybe she was timed because I also had to quickly tell her I wanted a drink as well). Second instance (different cashier), I needed an extra fruit cup with my order but the cashier assumed I was just ordering for myself so I walked out with only one.

This is also the second place that I tried to order a special item that was on Instagram (avocado toast) only to be met with “we don’t do that here”. It’s a frustrating trend to excitedly advertise something, encourage people to order it, and yet none of the staff...

I wanted to try the chicken salad because I had seen it online. So I went there and had to park next to the canal, as all other parking was taken. I opened the door and was instantly greeted by the heat and the smell of cooking. Clearly, the ventilation system does not work. I still decided to stay because I was just getting chicken salad to go. There were 4 people in line ahead of me and also every table was occupied in the restaurant and there was one lady working the front by herself. I gave her grace because of this.

She waited on everyone ahead of me and then had a conversation at a table she was not clearing or giving food. Before this interaction I looked at the patrons and observed that myself and another table (my kind) had not been served. Long story short, I left because I did not feel valued as a customer, it did not seem like the place for my kind. Now had she greeted me or said something to me in any way shape, form, or fashion I might have stayed. Never going back again and I...
