Not gonna lie, this one is gonna hurt my feelings a little. Went here on a whim while I was checking out Leesville Lake/Dam areas for recreational fishing spots. Saw it from the highway a couple times and was curious, but never really drove that far south much. Upon entering, I was impressed by the size and layout. Appeared to be quite clean, 3-4 servers acknowledged me and inquired as to whether or not I had been helped. Everyone was very friendly. I ordered my food and sat at a table across from the bar that looked into the kitchen. While waiting, I observed a gentleman that was wrapping food in plastic wrap for later use. He was not wearing gloves. Usually not turned off by that, but as I continued to watch, he would touch his forehead, wipe under his nose, and at one point, grabbed a rag from his pocket to wipe his nose and stuffed it back in his pocket. I was kinda mortified, but since he wasn't making my food, I let it go. In hindsight, I shoulda got the hell outta there because when I got home, I realized that just because he wasn't making my food, didn't mean he didn't prep the ingredients. He was a taller gentleman, older and had an unkempt, unshaven graying beard. Really unfortunate because the pizza was SO good. Probably the best I've had in the area. But I will...
ย ย ย Read moreWe are currently building a home on the lake, and needed a place to stay for the weekend. We went to the hotel across from Mama Rosas, and decided to get take out and try out their food. I ordered a calzone with mushrooms and onions. I stressed that I have an allergy to mammal meat (Alpha Gal Allergy), and to please make sure it only contains the mushrooms and onions. The assured me it would be fine. I got back to the hotel and started eating the calzone. It looked fine until I found it was loaded with sausage and onions. No mushrooms. I called and let the ladies know what happened and they offered to make me a new calzone. By this time, it was nearing closing time, but I went back over and explained again that I am highly allergic to meat (I used to eat it all the time until I was bit by ticks and went into anaphylaxis). They didn't seems to care at all. No apology at all. They gave me the new calzone and I left. Got back to the hotel and cut open the calzone. No mushrooms, no cheese, only onions! The entire thing was all onions! In the trash it went. I ended up having to use my epi pens that evening due to their mistake. I will never...
ย ย ย Read moreIn the hopes of providing honest constructive criticism, here goes my review. Our waitress was very polite and served our table in a timely manner, service was no issue. However, we ordered Chicken Parm and a Stromboli with just cheese. We both got what we ordered, but you could tell the cheese in the Stromboli was the processed powder covered cheese you get from Food Lion, very odd flavor. The Chicken Parm was made with what tasted like frozen chicken patties and canned sauce, except they both had a very soapy taste to them like the dish liquid wasn't cleaned from the pots and pans well. I truly hope Mama Rosa's will put a little more effort to stand out in our one stoplight town and give our community some good food. Gretna ain't big, and at this point it...
