Half Order of Shredded Chicken Nachos (side of Enchilada Sauce)
The best nachos hands down having tried everywhere else in town as well as the differing meat combinations for this restaurant as well. I recommend the shreded chicken because the juices will provide flavor that compliments the queso sauce and the stringiness of it allows meat to be (or at least the flavor from the juices to be) in every bite as opposed to if you had fajita style grilled cubes of meat. The enchilada sauce to dip in is a great addition as well for the smoky flavor that it lends to the jalapeños. I can say that having seen the chef and having presumed this was a Mexican run restaurant that I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the man's stature as he came from the back kitchen: a chef from Oklahoma has managed to make better nachos than I had when I lived in California in my youth. So try the nachos or try anything on the menu and you will be satisfied by the cost, the portions, and--most importantly--the flavor. PS for the take home customers: the extra bag of chips is so you can reheat the left overs in the oven and put the toppings on again for fresh at...
Read moreService is very slow. Soda has no carbonation, when told waitress, she said would check on and after reminding her she finally came with new glass of soda (took at least 10 minutes), it still had no carbonation. For me, half the pleasure of going to eat Mexican food is eating chips and salsa and washing it down with a sweet carbonated beverage, lol. I ended up settling for water as i waited, and waited and waited for my food. The salsa is pretty good, did need salt. I ordered the enchilada supreme . The filling was different than any beef enchilada I've ever had, and i didn't care for it. My husband said his burrito was ok. To me outstanding service will make me overlook alot of things, but service was slow and i felt the waitress was just a little irritated about the soda. She charged for my soda and had to be reminded to take it off the bill. Now she may have been stressed, because it's possible they were understaffed, in fact I'm almost positive that's the case. We definitely won't be...
Read moreTruck Stop quality Mexican food. If their enchilada/red sauce is not straight from a can, then they put a lot of effort in making a sauce that tastes like it came straight from the can. Same for the refried beans. Then there was the rubbery wind it up on your fork cheese. Even though the plates had been under the broiler to give it a good melt it was still rubbery. It was an hour and half until closing time and they were out of the hot salsa. The mild salsa is heavy on the garlic. Very good service from the friendly wait staff. I am not going to bother with the details of our meals…everything was average at best. If your car has broken down here then eat here, otherwise go to downtown Grove to eat Mexican food. We have now tried all of the Mexican restaurants in Grove and this one shakes out at the bottom. If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've...
