I had such great expectations from this place. The location is perfect right on the water with a beautiful view of the bay of Guayanilla (my birth place). Or waitress was meh... Hard to hear and she seemed like she didn't want to be there. We ordered our drinks which were good (you can get good drinks anywhere in PR). We of course wanted to try their 12" empanadillas (knowing we would have leftovers). We were advised to place the order since they take a while to make (fresh made to order was exciting to us). My husband ordered the shrimp and I ordered the mix shrimp, conch, octopus) and we waited. While we waited I noticed some very unusual activity which made us quite uncountable. First - there was an older gentleman sweeping the dirty while people were eating and clouds of dust were flying everywhere (the floor of the place is sand/dirt)! Second - there were STRAY DOGS inside the eating area next to patrons tables! That was gross to me. When we addressed the issue with one of the servers we were informed that some customers liked feeding them! Are you joking! I can care less what a customer wants with a stray dog. It's not only anti-hygienic but also a violation of health sanitation rules! We also noticed that the dogs were pregnant! 🫣🫣🫣
Our food looked nothing like we expected but as long as it tasted good it would be ok. WRONG! There was no flavor whatsoever. Not the dough, not the seafood. It was bland. What a disappointment this was. We paid our bill and left never to go back! 🤢🤢🤢 I do not recommend this place at all! IF anyone wants a great meal on the water, I suggest El Triángulo which is next door. We wanted to give this place an opportunity but it was...
Read moreI visited Upa Upa restaurant in Guayanilla and wanted to share my experience. To start, the "Famous 12" Empanadillas" are made with pastelillo dough, not empanadilla dough. Unfortunately, the shrimp filling I ordered lacked flavor despite its abundance.
For our main courses, my wife ordered a stuffed octopus mofongo, and I opted for an octopus salad. Regrettably, the octopus in both dishes was tasteless and lacked seasoning. I received less than 3 ounces of octopus in nearly 10 ounces of salad and onions. Similarly, my wife's dish was also flavorless, and the mofongo disappointed. It seems like the chef either doesn't taste their dishes or forgot to add salt that day.
My kids ordered a chicken mofongo and chicken strips with fries. The fries, like my tostones, tasted as if they had been sitting in the fridge for a while and lacked freshness. I had high hopes for the seafood due to the restaurant's proximity to the sea, but I was clearly mistaken. This visit was a letdown, and I won't...
Read moreI went here, and it really wasn't good. If I could give the service 0 stars, I would actually do it. First, we found a bee in one of our drinks. Second, they forgot to give us our appetizers. Third, they weren't really paying attention and we had to go to the counter to get water and other stuff. They also didn't write anything on paper, they would just do it on paper. A good restaurant should have waiters who would be there for the costumers and not be laughing with their work friends when they should be working, this was the worst costumer service I have ever seen in a restaurant. The food wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst, most of the stuff didn't really have any flavor or was too salty for my taste. The atmosphere was decent, the thing that really bugged me a lot was that the where stray dogs, which is a health violation for restaurants. Overall, it wasn't a great experience, I wouldn't...
