Update (11/5/2024)... I just wanted to update that now, unless you are physically able to have a golf membership, residents of Penn National Golf Community, as of this year, no longer receive the discount on food. Just another way to tell our community that screw you... greed lives on! Nothing really has changed since my original posting. Has there been a marketing/survey within the Penn National Community to determine if residents would support Founders Grill during the winter months? NO! Will the restaurant/bar close for the winter? YES What a difference a few years make... a 5 Star rating by Bunny and I, and now a 2 Star, but hoping for positive changes in the near future. As residents of Penn National, in a community that now has more then 1500 homes, we are typically a second thought when it comes to keeping this place open during the winter season... closing down by November and open again when the outside golf groups come back. There has never been a marketing program put forward to draw the local residents to this restaurant during the colder months. Beer prices have increased 20% compared to last year with again only 4 beers on tap... Center Square Brewery. No cans or bottles, and never a light beer offering... WHY? And then there is the waaaaay overpriced wines... ~$12 / glass from a so-so local winery. It definitely calls for BYOWine and get charged a $5 corkage fee. The food is always tasty, but again overpriced for this golf community. Yes, residents do get 10% discount on food only... with inflation, maybe that should be increased? How about 20% off humpday specials? And with regards to the personnel... a couple of the best workers from past years have been blackballed from coming back. That is not right from a business sense!! Hopefully the management training gets better compared to...
Read moreWe are regulars at this restaurant. First, it was disappointing that some of our favorite servers are gone in 2023. Secondly, there is rarely a light beer on tap. The prices are really high, especially for chicken wings plus they only offer one portion size. I compared the price of wings to other high scale golf courses and the wings here are 33% higher even though the price of wings has dropped to pre-pandemic levels.
They do offer a 10% food discount to residents but most people on our street rarely eat many meals at the clubhouse because of the now very limited menu and high prices. I realize the golfers make up the vast majority of your revenues but you have a nearby market of 1500 homes where I venture to guess maybe 10% actually visit the establishment.
You need to get some more small fare items and offer more soups. The same soup is served several days in a row. The salad bar could use a few more items and please get a light beer on tap.
You may want be thinking a way to market this place to the 1500 Penn National residents. I’m sure the golfers would be pleased also.
By the way, Amber at the bar is awesome and a reason...
Read moreFounders Grille, you're catering only to the very wealthy with your insanely hiked up prices. Very unwise. Golfers want good burgers, nachos, pizza, etc., at fair prices. Oh, and French fries! You don't even serve those anymore?! And normal chicken wings! The wings used to be great, and now you've not only raised the price, but the wings are a connected wing and drum on a fancy rectangular plate. It's so silly and frustrating. Every single thing on the menu is priced like a five-star New York restaurant now. Please, remember where you are and whom you are actually catering to: Largely, groups of regular dudes, not wealthy couples on fancy dates! GET SMART, and gain back loyal customers who have been very put off by your changes. Otherwise, golfers and nearby residents of Penn National alike are better off going to literally ANY other...
