Driver William was great. I ordered online from McInnis's website menu, checked all the boxes, put in special requests, paid for, tipped William and rounded up. Received phone call from driver, not restaurant, stating no greens and no red beans, changed order to bbq beans, green beans mac n cheese, potato salad. Order now delayed 40 minutes. Meal was ordered Saturday to have for Easter Sunday lunch. Request was made for well done pulled pork and not put on the bun, have bun wrapped separately. When preparing meal Easter Sunday, pork was on bun, now all soggy, no Mac n cheese, 2 potato salads, and meals are suppose to come with cake of the day. Guess what, no cakes. This is my second experience with McInnis's 12 rib bbq. 1st time I ordered in person, waited 25 minutes, name was called and went to window only to find out they weren't sure of my order, now had to wait an extra 40 minutes. When I arrived home, no sauce for pulled pork was full of gristle and fat. Need better training of staff and better quality control. Why even have a menu and special requests for that menu if you do not read the order and requests, no pride in taking care of the customer. Why wouldn't the restaurant contact me after receiving the order if you were out of items on the menu or weren't sure of the requests, not the Grubhub...
Read moreUpdate 2: Not as good. The brisket was cold as were the green beans. The okra was very hot, but was a second choice as they ran out of the mac n cheese and I had to substitute. Maybe the meal was ready but realized the mac was gone and then made the substitution. Otherwise tasty.
Update: This place was better the second time. Still haven't had the fried chicken but the brisket was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Mac and cheese was delicious as was the peach cobbler. Next time the fried chicken for sure. Seems it gets better every time.
To start I love places you walk into and it looks ordinary and the food and the people are extraordinary. It is family operated and very friendly. Service was excellent and food was delicious. I especially liked the gumbo. It was full of shrimp sausage and chicken. I went in for some fried chicken, my Achilles heel, but unfortunately they had sold out. Instead I got the fish okra and mac and cheese. It was awesome. I will definitely be back. Probably best place near the airport if not Gulfport. Please, definitely give it a try, I can't say...
Read moreI finally found a legit BBQ joint on the Gulf Coast. McInnis's 12 Bone is the prototypical neighborhood joint: delicious BBQ smoked just right, no frills - but no frills doesn't mean no personality.
First off, this place just looks right. A southern BBQ shack out of central casting, which is meant in the best possible way. For real BBQ connoisseurs, this place is sending out all the right signals: one-off, family owned, locals coming and going for takeout orders in the dirt parking lot.
The order turnaround is quick, as it should be. Pricing is reasonable. The best BBQ is unpretentious, and this place has that in spades.
The food? Solid. In an era where people are doing all sorts of things to "reinvent" BBQ, this place is the ultimate statement of smoke and sauce conservatism - what worked for decades is still the way, no need to get cute. This type of Q is harder to find than it should be, but that sure as hell isn't McInnis's fault.
This place is worth planning your lunch schedule around. If you love real BBQ this is...
