The Stadium Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Guttenberg

Was staying nearby for the night & saw this place had good reviews, so decided to try it. Started out well, with fairly quick service. I'm not one to splurge on myself for a meal, but decided to have a steak. So I ordered the steak & shrimp meal & friend ordered the pork chops. Salads were good, and meals were served just as we finished up the salad. Asked for some A-1 and was waiting for that. Unfortunately, that's when the good ended.

I ordered the steak medium & was fairly bloody for medium, but can live with that. But once I took a bite, something wasn't right, the meat tasted sour. Thought maybe it was just the char on it, so had my friend taste it. She even said don't eat it, and thought the same thing, like meat had turned. So when waitress finally came back with the A-1 & asked how things were, explained to her about the meat. FYI, again, I am not one to complain, but I won't eat a piece of meat that is bad, especially for the cost.

She said she will have another one made. Within a few min, she brought another steak out. I thought wow, that was fast. Had a nice grill on it, but when cut into it, other than the outside, it was completely raw. So when she came back, I explained & showed her it was raw. She took it back to be cooked more. This time it took a little longer, so figured it would be cooked better. Waitress said she would wait to see what it was cooked like this time. So as she waited, I cut into it, it was still raw on the inside & showed her.

By now, I don't even have the desire to try again. Friend was done eating & I honestly lost my appetite for a steak by now. I almost felt like I was the inconvenience for wanting a cooked steak that was not spoiled, so told her I would just pay for the salad, baked potato & 3 shrimp I ate. Waitress said she would take the steak off the bill. Well I would hope so. So for $12, my splurge meal was a salad, potato & 3 shrimp. Glad I splurged on myself.

It's too bad, as with the good reviews, I had better hopes. Things aren't always perfect in the world, & I completely understand things happen. But sometimes, it's just not meant to be. Probably a rare situation for them, & definitely uncomfortable...

Stretch at 1 stars-- I rarely leave reviews but will do with outstanding service/food or; as in this case just all around bad food. I'am an accomplished meat chef and won awards for smoking meats through the years FWIW.

Was greeted very quickly upon entry and sat down. Ordered a beer, through I , nor my wife, could understand what was on tap from the waiter. No biggie. Then ordered an "appetizer" of the stuffed cream cheese jalpenoe poopers ( spelling correct) . AS that ordered was being processed I noticed the menu had WAY too many things offered which is a red flag for a quality establishment-- no way can a joint like this provide top notch quality with one or two "chefs" in the back WITHOUT using the microwave. Poopers were disgusting no only in taste (clearly frozen and then nuked) but in presentation -- pop corn plastic dish? At least use a simple plate and some dipping sauce was too much to ask for. My wife ended up getting the BLT and myself the "Prime Rib" sandwich and extra 3.99 for fries. ( red flag #2). Food was provided TOO quickly.( red flag #3) My pickle was warm and shriveled up (and afterwards my wife told me her's was as well ) never a good sign. How do you have warm pickles? ( likely nuked as well out of laziness My "prime rib" sandwich ? Arby's would blow it away and I don't think I would even give a dog this meat- way over cooked to be called anything near "prime rib" unless of course you want well done and boiled in water. The consistency was like thick vomit. No "aus jus", but the waiter did notice and came back with something that resembled cheap canned Beef Broth --- I didn't expect anything better at this juncture..Enough. My wifes' BLT - she said the bread was stale and the bacon clearly nuked. STAY AWAY...

HUMONGOUS inside. Plenty of room. But very dark and depressing inside. Absolutely NO atmosphere whatsoever. My husband got the shrimp dinner with cottage fries and a salad with Ranch dressing. Excellent meal. My son got their steak with mushrooms, a bowl of chili and waffle fries. The waffle fries were YUMMY. The chili was super thick and EXTREMELY DARK in color. Tasted like chili powder paste. The mushrooms were quite tasty and extremely plentiful. The steak...was HORRENDOUS!!! Done 2 perfection, but FATTY AND FULL OF GRISLE. JUST DISGUSTING. I got their pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun and deep fried breaded mushrooms. The mushrooms were awesome!! And their ranch dressing is delicious!! Unfortunately, the pulled pork was far too greasy, way too full of juice, full of fat and gristle and basically flavorless. Plus, I paid extra for a pretzel bun bc they R usually flavorful and super thick and heavy. There was so much grease and jus that the pulled pork was originally sitting in, that it literally turned my pretzel bun in to something that resembled wet, raw stuffing mix.
