The other night we stopped by this Chinese takeout restaurant for dinner. I ordered a quart of Shrimp in Lobster Sauce — a dish I’ve had before and usually enjoy. However, this time the packaging was a serious issue. The food was extremely hot, and they placed it (with lots of liquid sauce) into a standard paper takeout box instead of a proper container. We set it in the back seat for the 30-minute drive home. When we arrived, the bag was soaked — the sauce had leaked everywhere, melted through the plastic bags, and even spilled onto my car seat and skin, causing a mild burn. The bottom of the paper carton had completely disintegrated . I called the owner the next day to explain what happened and requested a refund for the meal I couldn’t eat. Instead of acknowledging the issue, she blamed me, saying she didn’t know what I did after leaving the store. Fortunately, I paid by credit card and will dispute the charge and get my money back the easy way or the hard way. Bottom line: when you’re a takeout-only restaurant, safe and proper packaging is just as important as the food itself. Using paper boxes for hot, saucy dishes is completely unacceptable. Pictures of the aftermath are included .

Many times I've passed this restaurant and today was the day I've decided to try the food for the first time. Sun Yi Café, located on Pembroke Rd. near I-95, is a small restaurant with a small parking lot. It's a good thing the business advertises "take-out" because there isn't much space inside for dining, but there are seats provided for customers to sit and wait while the food's being prepared. I ordered my usual, pork lo mein lunch special. It was served with pork fried rice and also came with one free can soda. After waiting for twelve minutes, my food was ready. When I took a look inside the container, I was surprised at the amount of food I was given. It was enough to feed two people. Usually when I order pork lo mein, it contains small pieces of pork; but this food had big pieces of pork in it, and the vegetables was nice & crunchy. I must say, though it was too much food for me, it was very good and wasn't salty. Guess I'm having leftovers for a day or two.

As a chef, before you give your customer their food, you must first observe the dish & ask yourself, did i do my best with this and is this dish going to have the customer return? . .. I ordered BBQ wings and shirmp fried rice. The chicken batter used to make boneless honey chicken was on my bone-in chicken wings which is not what a person is accustomed to when eating fried chicken and the BBQ sauce was splattered over it, not even covering 50% of each piece. The fried rice consumed the entirety on the large plate which could serve 3-6 people as if they gave me the rest of the rice present to not be discarded once restaurant closed additionally, the shrimp is tiny and not the real shrimp people are accustomed to. . .. . .. The meal was $17 after tax and honestly i regret buying the food. My confession implies that the chef does not care about customer satisfaction hence why the parking lot was empty. That should have been my sign to leave before wasting my hard...
