Gohan Japanese Grill — Restaurant in Halls Crossroads

Because of all the positive things I have heard about this place I wanted to try it. I was very disappointed as was the rest of my family. We did a takeout order for the 5 of us. It was almost $90 but we have come to expect that for good quality food so we didn't mind paying it because we thought that's what we were getting. However, after getting and tasting it I'm actually really upset about that steap price because there was nothing really spectacular about any of our food. The portions were smaller than what we expected and our meat was so dry that if you didn't drown it in the yum yum sauce they gave you then I our could easily choke on it. It was a very low quality of meat that was supposed to be hibachi style but it was basically a super thin cheap cut of skirt steak. The veggies were either starting to turn bad when they cooked them (specifically the broccoli) or they had been sitting too long but I'm going to go with the first option because it was still sorta crunchy but the broccoli was half yellow and black (and not from any kind of seasonings). The carrots were brown and super mushy. I took pictures so when people ask about the restaurant I can just show them a picture for references.

This can't be real, right? First and foremost, the majority of these "5 Star" reviews are bot generated, It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out! Severely overpriced, I could have spent half of what I paid here at a Chinese buffet on a to-go order picking out what I wanted. But my dumbass wanted to give it a shot, so here I am. Oh, and the off the top asking for 22% tip at check out, my dude...come on! I did tip $4.00 for taking my order, for I don't know what employees make, at this rate it could be commission of tips. Oof. I will say, the carrots were good but the "fried rice" is nothing more than white rice fried up with some salt and pepper for flavoring, bet! It wasn't bad, but not what I expected for the price I had to pay. The steak Hibachi was too salty. Too much pop country filling an empty dining area. If you choose country, play some real country artists. Please, do not waste your money on this place, I promise you aren't missing anything! I give it no more than a year to keep this joint open. About a year ago, I was volunteering in Erwin, Tennessee, after Hurricane Helene hit... Gohan sent a truck to the Unicoi County HS and fed people, FOR FREE... it was delicious and while it was free, I looked at the regular prices and they are quite reasonable. Great food, fair prices, and they truly care about their community and customers and people in general!
