I'll preface this by saying I've been many times and enjoyed it. I called in a small take-out order (1 appetizer, 1 salad), they said 25 min. 45 min later, I wondered if they'd forgotten about me - there wasn't a good place to wait and no one said anything to me - so I flagged someone down to ask about my order, at which point the bag was produced (making me wonder if it'd just been sitting on a shelf somewhere). Although it took 55 min rather than 25, I figure hey, it's Friday night, they're busy...whatever. However, my $15 appetizer consisted of four cold, soggy shrimp on 2 extremely soggy, extremely salty pieces of toast. $32 and nearly an hour yielded a tiny, nearly inedible appetizer and a beet salad...needless to say, I'm kind of disappointed :/

Cafe Amici is everything I expect from an Italian restaurant. The staff is very friendly and professional. Inside and outside are kept clean. Atmosphere is very family friendly. To put a cherry in top, the food is phenomenal. I will definitely be returning for another meal sometime in the future. Located on Whitney Ave across the street from Wells Fargo or Walgreens. There is no direct highway to get there. If you're on Rt15 take exit 61. If you're on I91 take exit 5, or exit 10>40 connector>exit 1. Do yourself a favor and make the drive. It's well worth it.

This place has been our go to since we’ve lived in Hamden. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is very comfortable. The only reason they get 4 stars for service is because they make it right when they mess up, otherwise it’s a 3. We were there in July and the waitress served us our appetizers and forgot our main dish even though she took the order. She came and asked what we wanted for dessert and we never got our meal yet. Tonight the waiter forgot our appetizers. In July we got one of our appetizers for free and tonight we were given a discount.

When a power outage threatened to ruin our wedding day. Cafe Amici came to the rescue. With a food truck, a generator and a plan - they were ready to cater our wedding within a few hours. The way they worked so closely and quickly with our wedding planner made the transition so easy. They helped recreate some of our wedding menu (cocktail hour bites, sala, pasta) and then opened up the party for wood-fired pizza. I never would have imagined this would be what I served at my beach wedding reception, but it was absolutely perfect! All of my guests raved about the food, and most of them were Italian! The addition of wood-fired pizza actually made the reception flow better as people began to get up out of their seats. As a vegan, they took care of me no problem. Serving my salad with no cheese, making my pasta vegan and making me a special vegan pizza. They even packaged up additional pasta and two personal pizzas for my husband and I that we ate after the reception on our hotel room balcony. It was perfect. The chefs were genuinely nice and attentive to our guests needs. We are so incredibly happy that Cafe Amici was there for our wedding....

from the moment we walked in the door to the very second we left this service was shameful. we stood and waited to be greeted, no one approached...so we walked into the dining area. servers walked by but still no one approached. finally I asked someone if we should just sit down, the girl said "give me a minute" she proceeds to put silverware away. again we awkwardly waited standing in the dining area. we get seated, our server was mediocre and just going through the motions. he could have been better but...whatever. my drink came out and I had a moment where I thought I was being pranked. the cup was half way filled and it was basically wine mixed with club soda?! we got calamari to start and I didn't know how underwhelming and bland calamari could be. we asked for the check...we walked out...again no one even addressed that we left. we went next door to park central and let's just say the experience is night and day. we're spending more at park central..and its worth it!

I don't know how anyone could be satisfied with anything about this place. it is needless to say we will never go back. I couldn't...

I've gotten takeout here before but this time decided to dine in with guests (I live in the neighborhood). Made a reservation by phone, and arrived on time. Upon arrival, we were told to wait until a table opened up...we were thinking maybe a few minutes. Nope. 1/2 hour later, we were finally seated. A table that was empty when we sat down was then seated, and that party's order was taken before ours. They then took our order. When they came out with our drinks, the server spilled a glass of wine on my friend's sweater and pants. Luckily I live down the street and am a similar size so I went home to get her a change of clothes. When we were handed our bill, the server pointed out that they hadn't charged us for the glass of wine she spilled. I should say not! I didn't want my friends to encounter any additional rudeness, but if I had been there alone, I would've asked for a comped meal then and there. It's not about the spill or even about not honoring our reservation in a timely manner, it's about the rudeness and zero effort to make...
