I've been going to Killarney's Publick House for years now. My dining experience this past Saturday reminded me of one of those Chuckie Cheese locations in the mid-west which have liquor licenses and the police on speed dial. (Just with better food.) It was one of the worst times I've had.
Little kid had a temper tantrum (complete with top of the lungs screaming) 2 feet from our table in the outside seating area. The parents didn't care, neither did the staff or management. They let the unsupervised behavior go on for a very long time (10-15+ minutes) before some other paying customers decided they had enough, and it almost broke out into a real fight as the parents of the year finally where forced to deal with the situation they created.
After all this happened, a manager finally showed up - mostly I guess to ensure the facility wasn't to be damaged should a brawl ensue. I very much doubt anyone cared about the paying customers at this point, which is sad considering how much money our group spent between the alcohol and food. (In hindsight, they should have offered us an apology and some compensation for having this miserable experience.)
I do recommend you sit inside, near the bar. This at least forces some staff to be in your area, lest the little ones mistake the liquor bottles for soda bottles (which would cost them profit) and might be hilarious to watch play out.
Maybe they need to close the bar until after the the weekend brunch is over, or hire someone to actually watch the outdoor area and intervene as needed. I don't know. I simply expect better from Killarney's...
Read moreWent here on a whim. So sorry I did. The bar/restaurant is dark and dismal. We sat at one of the tables. We had choice sitting as all of the tables were empty. Red Flag ! The bar was half full though. The waitress was friendly. My boyfriend and I scanned the menu for Irish food, it is an Irish Pub, only thing we could find was Sheppards pie or eggs and bangers. So we both ordered the French onion soup. He ordered the Chef Special "Pork Chops" and I ordered the meatloaf. Both came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We waited almost 20 minutes for the soup, it was not hot, not cold, but defiantly not hot. 3 minutes later, barely enough time to finish our soup, dinner arrived. Problem #1: The amount of broccoli we received was insane and all of it was COLD! There must have been a sale on broccoli. Because we got about a full bunch each. #2 I had 3 thick slices of tasteless meatloaf on top of lumpy mashed potatoes. The gravy was described in the menu as "Brown Guiness Gravy" when in fact it was watery plain lumpy brown gravy. #3 My boyfriend received 2 pieces of thin bone in pork chops. Over cooked and under seasoned, on top of lumpy mashed potatoes that had chunks of bacon and onions. We asked for some bread and butter and the waitress brought us a plate of 6 cold crustini bread pieces that had been previously toasted and was now cold. The whole experience was not a good one. The best thing was the Landshark I had. I do not recommend this place for anything. It was a waste of a drive and the $40.00 we paid would have been better spent at a...
Read moreRight off the bat. If i could give service 10 stars, I would. Imagine 1 waitress (Brinley) , 40+ guests, and she is hustling and not missing a beat. Our Where Angels Play army started with 20 and just kept growing. Our server Brinley didn't blink an eye. She always had a smile on her face, was attentive to everyone, and I dont think she missed one order. The expediters came out with hot meals, smiles, and polite service. Bussers did the best of keeping the tables clear, and their presence was barely noticeable. Onto the drinks... Being a traditional old fashioned fan, i was slightly skeptical of their extensive menu. Lets just say me and my wife tried half of the old fashioned menu and not one was a disappointment! From O Smokey, to Treehouse, to Maple Syrup, to PB&J. Everything youd expect in an old fashioned is there. The food... The apps... cheese curds, chicken nachos, barvarian pretzels, and cheesesteak eggrolls were pretty awesome choices! I had the prime rib sandwich, aka a french dip. A well portioned meal and the bonus of having potato salad as a side. There is plenty of meat in a nice, soft roll and a nice amount of crispy french fries. My wife had the "fall off the bone" pork shanks in Guinness BBQ sauce. They definitely fall off the bone and savory. The experience makes me wish I took more photos, but I spent too much time enjoying the meal and moment. Management and owner both stopped in to make sure everything was as it should be. This is a place we will definitely visit again when we are in the area and a place you...
