Howie's on Hamilton — Restaurant in Hamilton

Was invited here for lunch and a boat ride on the Friday before 4th of July weekend. We ordered a variety of appetizers and enjoyed all of them. Quite a few people got the flatbread. We also tried burgers, shrimp tacos, and fish tacos. One person said their mashed potatoes were amazing. You really need to try something with the bacon jam on it - it is phenomenal. The service was really great. She even offered to go downstairs to the bar to get a drink Someone I really wanted but was only offered downstairs. There are two levels to Howie’s. While there is a bar in the restaurant level upstairs I guess there’s more of a bar area in the basement. There’s also a tiki bar outside on the lower level. There are decks on both levels overlooking Hamilton lake. So it gets five stars for atmosphere because it’s a really beautiful view. I can imagine they would be extremely busy on the weekends during the summer. Because it is a lake it’s a very casual atmosphere and the service is slower than what you would expect in the city so Relax...

Went for the first time the other day. We weren't for sure if it was seat yourself or hostess seating. Especially in consideration for the restaurant part its located at the back of the level where as the bar is as you walk in. It wouldn't be as bad if there were signs outside in terms of accessibility bar entrance - restaurant (use handicap ramp) or something along those lines to direct the flow. We were surprised the glasses for drinks were relatively small which required more refills for the server. Limited menu but everyone found something. Brisket tacos were good but served with tortilla chips which we thought was peculiar. Pork tenderloin was delicious and fries were good. Chef salad was good as well. Beer cheese and pretzel...

We had originally went to Lakers Landing to try it out. Sat there for almost 20 mins with NOBODY coming to even bring water, even after asking a waitress if we could order drinks & she said I’m not your waitress but I’ll find someone. So we came down to Howies & got service within 2 mins. Drinks were great, food was good, waitress was FANTASTIC. She had a great tattoo & gave us the name of the artist. She was on it like she could do it in her sleep. The other workers were helping each other out. More than one worker said have a nice night when we left. My hubby forgot his phone at the table & the bar tender ran it out to us in the parking lot! It’s pretty loud in there but overall...
