I was excited when I heard that the owner of Bowmanās Soul N the Wall had opened a new hot dog and ice cream spot in the old Dairy Queen building. Unfortunately, my recent visit didnāt quite live up to my expectations.
My boyfriend and I decided to try it out and ordered two servings of fries, a Chicago Dog, and a Cowboys Dog with added jalapeƱos and onions. I was surprised to find that the extra toppings were priced at $0.75 eachāconsidering you can buy an entire onion for that price at the grocery store, it felt a bit steep. There was also no mention of this additional charge on the menu.
We waited around 10 minutes for our food, which was fine, but the quality left a lot to be desired. Both hot dogs were undercooked and definitely needed more time on the grill. The fries were a major disappointmentāthey were warm but limp and undercooked, to the point where they were barely edible. It also seemed like they might be cooked in the same oil as the funnel cakes, which could be contributing to their odd taste.
Overall, I was hoping for a great experience but was left quite underwhelmed. I hope they can improve the quality of their food because the concept has a lot...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI finally decided to try the place. I never go to a new/just opened restaurant for numerous reasons! Mostly any rush, but also to let them settle in and show what they will be like! I saw the true colors today!!! ONE person ordering, nobody there eating but it was mid afternoon. When the person working finished the transaction in front of me, they looked directly at me, I started to walk up to order. WHILE looking me in the face, they close, and lock the window and walk away! I'm sorry, I only wanted a few hot dogs and a dessert when I was done! Rightfully named, I wanted to SCREAM!!!!! Instead of that though, I decided to keep my money and my future customs! I didn't think today's economy warranted or afforded you to be blatantly RUDE to people that were wanting to exchange their money into your pocket, but I wish you well. Now, I don't care if you have the best hot dogs and ice cream on earth, looking at your Google reviews you don't, but I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWonderful classic ice cream stand experience! Reminds me of going to Dairy Queen as a child but with waaaaaay more flavor options and the added bonus of supporting a local small business. I went on opening week, and the owner was even going around welcoming everyone personally. We chatted a bit, and I was absolutely delighted to hear him talk about the different ice cream flavors. Like eggnog (his favorite) and how he offers it year round because he was always sad whenever other places took it away after Christmas. And also brown butter bourbon truffle (my new favorite) which is so intensely caramel-y that he bought himself enough to keep a...
