We decided due to COVID we wanted to visit a low-key beach that wouldn’t have too many visitors so we decided on Fort Monroe and were told there is a beach club. We decided to check out the beach club this time... what a GEM!! It was $10 for adults and $5 for children over 3yrs.. we went on a Friday around 2pm and it was not crowded at all! It was family friendly and we had our 5year olds and 1 year old present. Our admission included use of the beach chairs and umbrellas. They had private beach front access, swimming pools, a full service restaurant with outdoor seating and a full bar, Tiki bar closer to the beach, corn hole toss, several beach volleyball courts, clean restrooms with a changing table for babies. The food was good and service was quick. You can order beach side with your waiter but the menu is limited on the beach front. However you can take a short walk to the restaurant to order from the full menu. An hour before we left a band set up on the stage and began to play great music. It was a great time and this will definitely be our go to spot when we come down to 757 for the beach. They also have cabanas for rent but there was plenty of seating when we visited so we didn’t bother inquiring. No out foot food/drinks allowed but you can bring unsealed bottles of water, empty stainless steel water containers. They do have a metal detector you walk thru and security at the entrance checking bags which was fine with me. SUGGESTION: I only have one suggestion and that is that the beach front could be raked or cleaned up a little better from seaweed and other small debris, especially since there is a cost to enter. We have visited fort monroe regular beach side the previous summer and the beach front was cleaner.

I love this place. The food is good the drinks are good the company is good. Great place for families during the week. On the weekend I recommend you don't bring children. This place the attracts a huge crowd of drinking age. You'll lose track of your kid and then find them with a group of girls or someone willing to help. Which isn't a bad thing it just happens every time you turn around 🤭 but seriously too crowded for kids on the weekends. The pool is getting pretty sandy. I wonder if little break soon. They could put up signs to force people to rinse off before jumping into the pool. But the currently enforcing cove in social distancing which is really appreciated. The measures should stay even without the virus, it prevents gathering around the bars, and everyone has an equal opportunity to order without having to yell or do something obnoxious for attention. Though the bartenders are pretty great at spotting who needs to be helped. All in all my family and I or my groups of friends love to hang out there. They have become such an amazing local staple. I definitely recommend renting a cabana for special occasions or getting a bunch of friends to chip in for an exclusive covered couch area. Comes with a stocked fridge and fruit plates 🙌

Paradise Ocean Club is modeled after a tropical resort complete with volleyball nets, adult and kiddie pool areas and imported palm trees. The food is quite delicious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I appreciated that the $10 door fee did include a lounge chair and umbrella although this is not a beach that allows you to bring in outside food or beverages. It's a great beach if you want a change from the crowds at Virginia Beach and aesthetically it's more pleasing to immerse yourself in than Buckroe Beach. Paradise is the type of beach where you raise a flag when you wish to order a beverage or snack and have it brought to your beach chair or you can order a large pizza from the snack bar and bring it back to your family. They also offer cabanas (prices may vary depending on the day so check the website) if you want to enjoy a more private beach setting. Overall Paradise is a welcome respite from the typical beaches in the 757 and worth the cover charge to enter and then some.

My husband and I rented a cabana for 6/20/2020 and the cabana holds 10 patrons. the forecast stated there was 30% chance of rain, we did not anticipate that there would be inclement weather. We were hesitant to come out since it may rain so we called to speak to the manager to reschedule for another date She stated that we would have to call in 24 hrs prior to our arrival and that if we wanted to speak to the manager that we can so I’m assuming she was the assistant manger. Well we drove up anyway to see if we can reschedule and her answer was no! When we arrived it was started raining and she said it wasn’t so now she’s calling me a liar. We couldn’t schedule or cancel and their policy does state “ cabana may be rescheduled due to inclement weather, you must contact us prior to arrival” we did call to reschedule and there was inclement weather! So basically her policy doesn’t apply to us I was in complete shock that she would just stand there and not take in account that there was inclement weather. Since we couldn’t get a refund nor reschedule we had to try to make the best out of it by watching the rain pour and our guests did not come because it was raining . It was such an inconvenience and we didn’t get compensated for anything other than what the manager stated that we were basically inconveniencing out servers and that her server is already setting up. It was almost an ultimatum in a sense if we didn’t stay, no one wants to sit in a cabana and watch the rain pour and not make their money’s worth, plus swim. If she put herself in our shoes and see how it feels to be in cabana with her family with rain pouring down and can’t enjoy what she paid for I bet she wouldn’t stay and ask for a refund or reschedule. This was absolutely the worst business on her part and trust me I will not be back here again. People will reap what they sow! Thanks for making our experience a memorable one!

Update: after writing the review above on that date, we received a call on the same day stating that we can reschedule because the band canceled their performance. Didn’t like that they used that as an excuse when they dismissed the real reason as to why we were trying to cancel due to inclement weather but anyways we were happy that they were able to accommodate us again. So we went the follow week which was 6/27/20 Saturday. The server who served us the first time was very apologetic and felt bad that we didn’t enjoy ourselves due to inclement weather. I told her it wasn’t her fault! I was glad that she wasn’t the only person who witness the unfairness of situation. I still won’t go back because of how the assistant manager mishandled the situation the first time. She needs to learn to be more accommodating and not nasty to her customers and face...

I've been several times with my family throughout the years with differing degrees of success. Today was pretty bad. I got there early with my 3 young children. There was a man sitting on one side of an umbrella; the seat on the other side was vacant. We asked if anyone was sitting there, he said no, so we grabbed a seat in the shade and one beside it. After 2 hours, I took my smallest child to the snack bar while my older ones sat in the shaded seat. When we got back, the man was leaving and some women were waiting for his seat. When he left, they yanked the umbrella out of the ground and moved it, leaving my kids in the sun. When I asked one of them to put it back, she said she has to take care of her kids too and she said the man who left said she could have the umbrella. I said it wasn't his to give, but she didn't care. When a cabana boy came to help her put the umbrella in a new spot, I explained to him what had happened, and he said that I should have come early enough to grab a shaded seat. When I explained that we had done just that and had been sitting there for hours, he said they don't police the umbrellas. He said he would talk to a manager, and came back with an umbrella that was broken and sharp on the bottom, and asked if I wouldn't mind putting all of the beach at risk by utilizing the broken umbrella. I said not to worry about it, but he tried to put the umbrella in the ground anyway and it broke even more, so he gave up and walked away without doing anything further to correct the issue. I didn't want to make a scene in front of my kids, so I had no choice but to let it go. Even the onlookers were throwing their hands up in the air in disgust, as they had watched the entire incident. I then opened our snacks to find a hot dog missing and the fruit that I had ordered had mold on it. I do find it interesting that blacks are complaining of bad service...I don't know if there is a connection, but because of previous posts, I will clarify that I am black and the other...

I requested a Cabana for my daughter's 8th birthday scheduled for 7-10-20. The woman I spoke with called me today 7-7-20 to tell me that I needed to provide a guest list for my reservation scheduled for the 7-8-20. I informed the lady she must be mistaking in which I had email confirmation of the date of the reservation. She immediately became very disrespectful and began to speak over me stating I can only receive a partial refund or I could change the date but the tenth was not available. I asked to have a manager contact me. A manager never contacted me. When I called back I asked could I place an order for food for the event. The woman instantly with sarcasm says, "oh so you don't want to cancel?" I responded with I don't have any other option ma'am but I would still like to be contacted by your manager. She stated "well I already spoke to him and he said we could cancel it for a full refund if you wanna just cancel it." I responded, "no I would like to place my order so could you please take my order and have your manager contact me?" The woman begins speaking over me again blurting out my phone number and hangs up while I'm still talking. I called back and asked her, "why did you hang up on me? I still have to place my order! You have been very disrespectful everytime we speak! Before I could finish my statement she yells your not going to raise your voice at me and hangs up again. I tried to call back multiple times and no one would pick up. So now I have no idea whether or not my reservation is cancelled, if I will be receiving my refund, if a manager is ever going to call me! I was never even able to place my order. I'm just absolutely disgusted in how I've been treated by this establishment and I'm not sure if it is racially motivated or just horrible customer service. I went in person spoke with Scott who apologized for my experience and offered a small discount. We had a great time. The environment is great for family fun almost like a resort! Glad I didn't let one bad apple ruin...
