Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Hampton

IF I COULD RATE 0 STARS FOR THAT DAY I WENT I WOULD!!!!!

Went to this particular Popeye's last month(December 2024): 67 W Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA

First off after going through the drive thru was told to wait in parking lot area and food would be brought out to the car. - that didn't happen. Next, after about an hour of waiting for fresh food, that was paid for through the drive thru - had to go inside and pick it up.

Food - chicken wasn't the right amount (either someone can't read what is needed in the order or they they cant count) So that was rectified and the manager took the 10 pieces and threw them away. However my order was 16 pieces. Sides was kept since they were correct and I returned to the car while waiting another 30 minutes for fresh chicken AGAIN...this time I collected the food and left. Reached home ready to eat and only 11 pieces and not even all the white meat pieces I paid for.

Lesson learned - don't eat from this Popeye's or any Popeye's. Manager didn't care about his mistake and didn't want to own up to it. I was not driving back to Popeye's with the bones of some of the chickens just to be turned away. Manager packed food up himself so....he didn't read it is supposed to be a 16 piece: 4 spicy breast, 4 spicy wings, 4 spicy breast, 4 spicy wings AND I paid for the upcharge and still didn't receive the right amount in the box. Even Popeye's website didn't do any justice....just they will contact the manager. What good is that if (Eric) don't want to own up to his mistake that was done 2x. Manager nor the customer service has made contact with me since. Too bad I didn't take a video opening the box in the house. Pure waste of money..... and still had to cook since I didn't get all the chicken I paid for. Sides went into microwave because after waiting another 30 minutes after the first 1 hour and 30 mins....basically....horrible service. Even better: the phone number that was listed on the receipt..was the wrong number. I had to google the phone number and called multiple times until the manager picked up the phone.

♡♡♡By the way...ZAXBY'S taste good !!! Have no issues, and the staff knows how to count!!!!. and never long waits no matter how crowded. Even then your food will be the correct count and all HOT and FRESH..♡♡♡

However, if you do get food from this POPEYE'S location....be prepared for the long wait times.....and open every box and count every item. Knowing this ahead of time...you won't be too disappointed when you there waiting long hours. Even better, I came through the drive through once waited in a long line of cars about 8:30pm and when I got to the speaker to order I was told they had no chicken. Well in that case you should've shut down because that's what people were coming for. However, how do you run out of chicken by 8:30pm and try to sell me just sides and shrimp?? How many managers came to this place just to...

The food is great. But everything else about this place is sucks soooo bad... takes forever to get food. Half the employees are just sad. The customers are the worst. They beg other customers for money. Lie and say the half eaten food is wrong and want all new food. I dont live in getto, but somehow this place attracts mostly bums. I hate going here and told my wife if she wants it she has to go get it... I will never go there again. I complain so bad every time I go here. Todays ordeal was. I arrived at 350pm walked in and was the only customer in line at that moment. Order 3 same orders (4tenders spicy and biscuit plus side of fries togo). At 405pm I asked how much longer. The lady says I'm sorry the spicy is still cooking we only have reg tenders right now, i said I've waited 15mins while everyone else is getting there food inside and drive thru. How much longer till the spicy tenders(the most popular item I thought) would take? She said I didn't need to have a attitude, it's coming. Then a other lady said she was sorry for the wait and the first lady said dont say nothing to me. I did say indidnt mean it rude, its just been a long time now. Mean while I'm still waiting a customer is yelling in some crazy voice to employees in the back then they all fist bump. Then the "customer" looks at me and asks if I can help him with money for the bus, he needed $7. I said I'm pore too, so then he asked if I could buy him something to eat. I said again I'm pore, then he handed a receipt to the lady and said he is waiting for his food (he never ordered anything?) The lady glanced at it and made him the matching order from the receipt and he turned to me and said "God provides" pointing to the receipt showing today's date but hours earlier. Yep, I'm done. This review basically spells out the multiple times I've been here, not just today.

When I tell you I was about to write a scathinggggg review…. I went through the drive thru and everything from the service to the old food they gave me was horrible. When I returned to get my order remade, after sitting in the drive thru, I was asked if I could drive around as they were waiting for fresh nuggets. As I waited with so much irritation, the new GM pulls up and must of seen my face as she was walking in. She IMMEDIATELY asked me what I ordered and if I would accept tenders in place of nuggets, so I wouldn’t have to continue to wait, to which I said yes. Mind you, my entire experience lasted almost an hour which consisted of me driving home and driving back as well as waiting for over 30 mins after I had paid. However, in a matter of 5 minutes, she fixed it!! Customer service and common courtesy goes a long way. Communication and respect is needed from both the staff and the customers. She did what it seems 5 or so other people couldn’t do which was to give me what I paid for and made fresh. I appreciate her stepping right in and fixing the situation. I can’t wait to see the great things she will do with this place. Popeyes already has a bad name but I can say they have at least one good apple in the bunch. It’s the little things that matter.
