This location has a terrible deli employee. Her name is Nevaeh. She stated to me that I had to wait 30 minutes for chicken. It was a Sunday afternoon around 12 PM. When I approached the deli she didn’t even come over to greet me to ask me. how could I be helped? She spoke to me from the window where she observed another employee working She stated it would be 30 minutes from the chicken. I asked if I could hold some chicken or either go on and buy the chicken and just have my receipt and ticket to pick it up. She stated now there would be enough chicken out in order to get my order When I returned. She was helping another customer in the deli, but she saw me there when the customer left, she proceeded to to be behaves if she didn’t see me and then she turned and looked at me and said there would be a 30 minute wait on chicken I asked her Why she didn’t allow me to pay for the chicken in advance and she said they don’t do that I know that Food Lion does that because I’ve done it before she proceeded to say no they don’t do that and direct me to her manager when I spoke with the manager, Miss Kelly Wilson she stated that she apologize, but that Nevaeh is always having a problem with a customer. I don’t understand why Nevaeh is still employed there if she doesn’t want to work, but she doesn’t want to even assist you. She was very rude and unprofessional, and her clothing was...
Read moreDeli department failed again. First off there are flies stuck to the sticky thing. One would think that it's time to change it. Then I waited about 5 min for the lady to come out the back. She was carrying a bowl of something she placed in the hot area on the other side of the counter. She was wearing plastic gloves. She asked me would you like something? I asked for a 1/2 lb. of pepperoni. Is there anything else? No. She goes behind the counter then in the back. After she returned i saw her bending down with the meat I was requesting. After recognizing she had not changed her gloves, I politely requested her to change them. No washing of hands first... she just started to change the gloves when another deli employee came by, she (the first lady)whispered something and walk to the the back. As the new lady (who put on gloves) went to put the meat in the cutter I saw at least 5 yes five flies take flight. I could see meat on the blade. I immediately stopped her and said never mind there are too many files on that, she said "yeah I know". My daughter and son pointed out the dead and not so dead flies on the assorted special cheeses below the counter. Meanwhile, the meat department was no different... more dead and not so dead flies. If you like to dine with flies,...
Read moreFood Lion has some good deals if you have MVP card. They have a decent selection of items on the shelves but limited on the beef. At this store, you won't find good cuts of steak like rib eye. I have only seen filet mignon one time at the store in the last 20 years and then it was only one pack of two filets. You might catch a rib eye once in a blue moon but mostly what they have is cheaper cuts like flank and chuck.
I seldom get produce at this store because it usually is not good quality and past its shelf life. I have seen moldy berries and brown lettuce at this store. Some of the other Food Lions have great produce and good selection but varies by store. Only produce I purchase at this store is broccoli and bananas.
While I don't normally buy store brands due to quality, I find Food Lion brand items on par with big brand names. The prices are good. I used to shop at Harris Teeter, but their seem to go up every week now-a-days. Many of the same items I buy at Food Lion are 20% to 30% cheaper. That's a big difference and with MVP BOGO deals, you can find some real bargains. They even beat WM on a lot of the brand name grocery items.
Aside from the produce and meats, this is a good place to shop and...
