Ward's Soul Food Kitchen — Restaurant in Hampton

Wards has changed!!!!!!!! Sure the food may still be good, but wouldn't know because I didn't have a chance to eat it again. Recently moved back to the area and opened my own business.Decided to call Wards to get info for a next day catering order, 50-100 People. When I called being a tenured 12+yr customer and asked for the owner, I was told "we are busy" and was hung up on. Fact is, in the past I have ordered many trays for events in the past, but this lack of customer service and Rude behavior has lost my business. Being Deeply invested with the area and Providing services to over 2000 people just in the surrounding area of Wards, (due to business off Commander Shepard) I will no longer eat or promote this business. Im from Richmond, stopped at Ward's for some good ol soul food, however, after reading the reviews I said, " let me be the judge"...I order two Turkey Wing dinners and a pork chop sandwich, the turkey wings were falling off the bone, but bland on the seasoning side so was the Mac & cheese and the pork chop sandwich that I actually came home and put my own seasoning on and put it back in the air fryer. The potatoe salad was great, not sure if it was store bought, but good non the less. My wife, two friends and I visited while in Hampton for a convention. It was about 10 minutes from the Convention Center and I would’ve driven farther! The food was BUSSIN’, as my granddaughter would say! I had the turkey wings with Mac n cheese, and collards. The portion size was enormous and seasoned perfectly. The others had the fish and wings, which they enjoyed. We all had ample portions which were hot and delicious. Needless to say there was a great deal of nodding through the afternoon session, the “itis” is alive and well. The service was great and everyone was extremely friendly.
