The Truck Stop — Restaurant in Haring Township

Let's start with the good... service and atmosphere were good. It seemed like one waitress was working the entire place (2/28/25), and she did a great job. The atmosphere was fine, basically what you would expect.

Now let's talk food. We started with an order of jalapeño poppers. They were obviously left in the fryer too long. I tried using a plastic fork to grab one, not possible! You would have a better chance of sticking a fork into a golf ball. They were replaced and were marginally better. One in our group had a burger, looked good, and was good. Two others had the steak, also pretty good. I, on the other hand, had boneless wings and an order of tater tots. Total $#it. Don't ask me how you can mess up tator totts, but they pulled it off. Rock hard is my best description. The wings also overcooked and had no evidence of the garlic parmaessan that was supposed to be on them. Basically, anything that involved the fryer was terrible.

That waitress did give us a discount on the meal (thank you), but honestly, some of this food should never have been brought to the table and should have been comped.

I worked here for a short time to not be put on a schedule, even tho I have multiple kids to work childcare out for. I would have to ask daily if I had to work, calling and texting didn't always get me an answer either. And when I received no message back or call back asking when I worked, after multiple failed attempts to reach anyone regarding when I work next, I stated this was clearly not going to work out and I wanted my last check on the next available payday and I hoped they'd find what they're looking for. Jacie informed me they would send my check and that this is just how busy they are. That they can't let a worker know their own schedule. Yet still, almost a month later after quitting, I still have not received my last check. I was even told by Jacie I was not allowed to come get it! Very unprofessional environment, poor management skills, and I still have not yet been paid for my training week, or my last two weeks of work. It's a nice place, but everything here tastes like pork that isn't! The BBQ is fine but I don't want it in my beans and such. The coleslaw. Well, it leaves a lot to be desired. Try NOT using cheap mayo! They use to have great coconut cookies and they don't even have that anymore. The people are pleasant. Never had any complaints there. If they just up their menu and change some of the food. There is a great coleslaw recipe that was out of this world I had in Traverse City and it had no mayo. It was made with jalapenos. I think people use mayo and not just mayo CHEAP MAYO too much on things! They need to come up with some healthy alternatives. I ordered a salad there once and the chicken was horrible. I would love a salad with something hot on it. Hot Chicken or Steak. If I want cold food I can go to a deli. Sorry guys but you need to step up the menu please.
