Platillo's — Restaurant in Harlingen

My family and I decided to go have lunch at Platillo's because my sister had never been there. We were the first customers so I was hoping we could get the food fresh. I ordered the beef plate which consisted of one beef enchilada, one beef chalupa and two beef crispy tacos with rice and beans. The enchilada was good but the chalupa and tacos were bland. They didn't have any flavor. Oh! If you order tortillas understand that they charge you for them. But eat them quick. If you don't they become hard real quick! The tea was really good. The customer service was just, umm, it was eh! It could have been better. Our server was just there. Felt like he didn't want any customers for the day or didn't want to be there. Overall it was mediocre. I've been to places where the food had more taste and the customer service is much better. I'm a foodie. I love food. And also, I don't know the owners or anyone that works there. I love food and I eat out constantly so I'm honest about how I feel...

Only place I've been where they charge for the tortillas. We went and as we placed our order they asked if we wanted tortillas (which are always complimentary at other restaurants) we said yes and they told us it would be EXTRA!! HOW ON EARTH WOULD YOU CHARGE FOR THAT?? I get it if we wanted more after but those should have come with the dish, especially since the waitress asked us if we wanted th em too. The food was okay just the stupid rule about the Tortilla. Even the waitress said she felt bad for charing but that she was just doing her job. Please go to other places with wayyyy better...

If you're looking for something better that gas station tacos or enchiladas, this isn't it. If you like frozen enchiladas from Walmart you may or may not like this place. Because I know it's difficult to run a restaurant and please the majority, I will give them one more opportunity to change my mind. P.S. I had the chile relleno come. The cheese in the chile was as hard as it can be; the cheese enchilada was horrible; I could barely bit into the ground beef taco.
