This place is located on a downtown road in Harrington right next to Clutter Box (antique furniture place). Its a very classic, old town location. It's in the most historic part of Harrington and really brings the charm from the outside; in. Inside the building has really clever and funny signs, some pretty meaningful.
It's just the right lighting and classic American cozy interior. It was clean and all the tables where ready when I got there. You can sit wherever you want once you come in, they come to you, sorta like a diner vibe.
The women working there were very nice and attentive. The clientele seems very close. They knew everyone who came in and knew where they'd sit down. Seems like a good place to be a regular. They stop serving breakfast after a certain time, I'm not sure what time because I didn't ask but I wish I had known because I went in to get breakfast but ended up having to get lunch.
I ordered the del la warr sandwich, chicken soup, tea, and orange juice. Everything was good. Sandwich came out really hot so it's really fresh, just wasn't a big fan of the roast beef because I'm just not a roast beef fan. I also kind of wanted a turkey sandwich at the time but they didn't have turkey. They have chicken salad tho and I almost got that instead. They also have specials too. I want to go back to try their breakfast next. I think I would have enjoyed the experience just a bit more.
Also this is street parking, as far as I'm aware they don't have a parking lot. So you'd have to park...
Read moreWe eat at the Main Street Cafe two or three times a week. We were referred to Beth's place ... the Main Street Cafe ... by the people next door at the "Clutter Box" which sells furniture and by the folks at the M&T Bank across the street. The food is outstanding and the service is the best we have ever come across. My wife says their prime rib is the best she has ever had anywhere. I prefer seafood and the crab cakes are delicious. For variety, I tried the shrimp and scallops ... super. A couple of weeks ago, they offered these giant Portobello mushrooms stuffed with crab meat. My goodness ... fabulous. But the other day, the stuffed pork chops sounded good and clearly it was the best pork chop I had ever had. The desserts are freshly baked and fabulous ... fruit pies, cakes, cookies, and one time, I just bought out the whole dessert case. For breakfast, I like the omelets and the sausage links, which are really great, but I also ask for half an order of chipped beef on French Toast ... these people are great to accommodate my quirky requests. Sometimes we purposely order extra so that we can have take-out for the next day. Main Street Cafe is a great place and a major asset to...
Read moreWe used to love it here, it was our favorite breakfast place. It has slowly declined. We have given multiple chances since but today the food was disgusting. The potatoes tasted like old sink water. The crispy potatoes were burnt but soggy and so oily. The chipped beef was flavorless, the biscuits were dry. The coffee was even burnt. Not to mention the quality of service has gone down as well. It was always the same couple waitresses but today we had a young girl. She was behind the counter texting not paying attention. She told us there was gravy but then came back and said there wasnt. We asked about different creamer looking for whole instead of half and half, the older waitres rudely said they didnt carry flavored creamers. No one said anything about flavored she was just assuming because we are young. Unfortunately i just dont recommend this...
