We go here regularly because it's grandma's favorite place. The service is always exceptional. The waitresses know grandma and grandpa by name so they are always very friendly and keep the coffee filled. I still get annoyed that they get our orders wrong more often than I think should happen, but luckily even when they're wrong they're still pretty good. Last time my lunch wrap had eggs & salsa in it instead of the dressing that was listed on the menu..... who knows what the cook was thinking? But I ate it and it was damn delicious. So maybe the cook just knows better than I do what I want.
Update: 3 years ago- 4 stars. We went on a Sunday for breakfast and it was packed. The service and food were much better.
Original post: 3 years ago- 4 stars Went there for the 1st time when the kids had a snow day. There were only 2 waitresses and the place was packed full of what i assume to be regulars who all brought their grandchildren. Our waitress said that others were sent home because they were slow earlier.
The waitress had too many tables so it took forever to get our drinks ordered and been better if she just said nothing instead of assigning blame. It was just awkward.
I don't think I will go back. The food was fancier so unless you go with someone who's been there its hard to decide what will be good. We ordered lunch options instead of breakfast and I think it would have been good if it was correct but I'm still not sure it would be...
Read moreWe’ve been long time patrons of Samantha’s Frontier Restaurant in Hartville. This used to be such a consistently good place for breakfast. However, over the last several months there has been a noticeable decline in the quality of the food preparation. Today was the last straw for us, the home fries were old, extremely greasy and over cooked, they appeared to have been warmed up leftovers from the previous day. The biscuits were so hard I literally had to cut them with a knife. Breakfast for two was approximately $30, and we were only able to eat maybe a fourth of it…if that. The quantity of food left over prompted our server to ask if we wanted a take home box. I insisted that it wouldn’t be necessary and shared our disappointment with the meal. At this and to our surprise she became rather curt with us and chastised us for not speaking-up sooner. To say the least, we were a bit taken back with the tone of her response as well as her attempt to shift blame. Although we would have insisted on paying full price, an offer to adjust the bill was never extended nor was an apology offered for the sub-par fare. We’ve always enjoyed having breakfast here, however……based on several recent visits including today’s, we’re going to give this restaurant a break for an extended period. Hopefully, they’re able to recalibrate and get back to doing what they used to do best. Best of luck to...
Read moreExtremely disappointed in this location. 8:50 on a Sunday morning where Im willing to spend 30 dollars on breakfast and I call to make a to go order. Im told your store is not accepting to go orders today. What? Excuse me? In 2023, I cannot think of a more self sabotaging business practice than that. With everything that has happened the last few years, every restaurant from here and back accepts to go orders. Even fast food, when they are having thousand dollar half hour periods in the drive thru, accepts to go orders made up on the fly.
Had I come inside the store before calling, would I still have been turned down from ordering to go? What restaurant, on what could be its busiest day, turns down to go orders? I refuse to believe the restaurant was THAT busy. And on our way to somewhere else, we passed by and saw that it wasn't. Just moved to Hartville a month ago, and I live a half minute from your location. Sad to say you have lost a customer before I even had a chance...
