Even though their hours say theyāre open until 8pm on the door, Donāt plan on going if you want a coffee after 2pm. I had never been here before but see people talking about it so thought Iād give it a try. I went in at 2:40pm and exchanged pleasantries with a nice guy who worked there and asked where I could get coffee and he said right here at the coffee counter. I made my way over and 2 gals were standing there and without greeting me, one said to the other āyou need to put the closed sign upā and I said oh are you closed? then they looked at me and said āyeah we close coffee at 2ā and appeared annoyed. I said āoh I didnāt know this is my first time hereā and proceeded to leave. The nice man spoke up when I made my way to the door and said we can get you something what would you like? I said I just wanted an iced coffee and the shorter gal who had already rolled her eyes when the man spoke up said āno we are out of iced coffeeā I said an iced latte or something? She said all the dishes were dirty and the man asked if I could wait. I said no, my children are in the car and I left. It was a very awkward and uncomfortable interaction since 1) it says theyāre open til 8 and 2) one employee seemed to want to help while others didnāt. We had BBQ from Dickie Do's in the past and were always happy with the food. My wife and I were intrigued when Dickie Do's changed to Rambling River Mercantile and started adding a coffee bar and scratch made baked goods. We went one Saturday morning for a biscuit and coffees, and we were floored at the customer service and the quality of the drinks and food.
RRM has become our Saturday morning go to now. Saturdays just don't feel right without a coffee and food from this awesome family.
Thanks guys for being such a great asset to Haw River and the area in general. We wish you nothing but the best of luck as we know your little spot is just going to continue to grow...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been to Rambling River Mercantile quite a few times now and Iāve never left disappointed. It is a family owned business that pays attention to the details and have created a much needed place for coffee, homemade pastries, breakfast and gifts in the Haw River area.
This far, the Sirens Macchiato, Chai and Sunshine Tea have been my favorites. The lead barista, Katie, is personable and very knowledgeable about coffee. She often remembers customer orders down to their milk preference. They also recently started selling breakfast biscuits that remind me of the ones my grandparents would make.
Itās a great pace to go in for friendly conversation and to get some work done. Be sure to go in on Saturdays for the BBQ Market too! Best BBQ Iāve had since...
