This place is a true hidden gem. Off the beaten path if you're staying in kona it's a 20-25 minute ride. Casual.

The poke is freaking amazing. This is the second time we have been to the big island and are always looking for the best poke. We have tried umekes, KTA and Sack and Save, as well as other restaurant pokes fresh, frozen you name it. But this place by far beats all the others we have tried. They have a hugggeee variety of poke, sides. The passion fruit tea is delicious and unsweetened which I like the ube lemonade is tangy and sweetened but not overly sweet very refreshing. The poke is soo fresh, no fishy taste at all very well seasoned. Conrad is the sweetest funniest man.

The poke platter which is four kinds of poke two sides with two scoops ormf rice can be shared for two people (like me who eat a lot). It was so good we came back an hour later to take out for our dinner and even left our sandals, which Conrad kindly saved for us.

We have now been back a third time and will continue to go until our vacay is up due to the quality of the food and the superb hospitality! Please visit this location, you will not be disappointed and be kind to this establishment,...

Honaunau Poke Shop was our first experience for trying poke! We had read the reviews and on the way back from City of Refuge, we decide to give it a try. Are we ever glad we did!!! It was beyond what I had imagined (assuming it was a one time experience) and ate everything in my bowl! I ordered the California Poke bowl with rice and seaweed topping. My daughter ordered the oyster poke (a bit risky I thought) with rice and seaweed topping too. My son ordered a spicy poke bowl with the rice and seaweed. We were BLOWN away and we all are poke enthusiast now but we also know that we tried poke at one of the best places around! We were greeted by a friendly young woman who made recommendations for us when we told her it was our first time trying poke and we purposely sought out the restaurant. This sweet woman also helped us with a minor emergency for my oldest daughter, which saved the rest of day, as we continued out on our adventures!!! We sat out on their covered patio which was clean, nice cool breeze and watched the world drive by as we took a break from the busy day. I would come back again and again and again for their...

First poke experience. Poke (literally means cube) is raw tuna in cube form and comes in various flavors you choose from and it's served with a scoop of rice. Price is roughly $22-23 for 2 poke choices, 1 side and 1 brown or white rice. We took the poke plate (4 poke, 2 sides, 2 brown rice). Poke was delicious and I really like the flavors we got (creamy spicy, D hawaiian, slippery hawaiian, sesame). Our sides were lomi salmon (there was barely any salmon in it and it was basically just tomatoes) and we also got Li Hing Mui Lychee which was essentially lychee desert and was super tasty). We also got Poi (one taro root and one potato) both were tasteless. I guess you're supposed to eat them with tasty flavorful poke to balance which was an interesting experience. Overall we liked the experience and not sure how much price compares to other places but they did have a note that their prices change daily based on market...
