I come here a lot. I do I do love their tacos and they have vegetarian options and they're willing to put in guacamole when you don't get the meat which is HUGE. Also their surf sauce is amazing. AND on my recent trip they seem to use a lot more, not sure if it was just a particular chef or a new policy but it was probably the best taco I have had there.
On my recent trip today, the kind man at the counter said they don't serve water when we asked for some. This clearly was a policy thing and not his fault. And this is a weird policy because the cost of water based on the water garbage sewer bills in Hawaii is not very high considering we would only be having about 1/16 of a gallon. We were forced to bring in our own beverages which seemed weird but we had some yummy drinks in the car so we just pulled them out. I would strongly recommend allowing the top water. The cashier was great though I'm very kind and I don't blame him for this issue at all.
Also, they accidently forgot the beans and rice but the female person at the counter was not willing to help but the tall man behind the counter (our original cashier) noticed what was going on and instantly came to the rescue 😄. He even came later to check on us which is really nice and then offered us some free samples of their amazing dessert which were wonderful. 😄 I really don't understand the water thing though. They have working bathrooms. And toilets. And I understand needing to save money but the amount of water they save from not being willing to give you a water is so ridiculously small that it's probably less than $400 a year. This is based on me estimating how many customers I have a day the size of a glass of water and the cost of water garbage sewer in the state/county.And I actually saw a pitcher back there that has some water in it. Anyhow there's my rant but I do want to emphasize how kind The tall Man was who took our orders. Mahalo for your kindness. 😄 It made something that was otherwise frustrating not so bad and the food was great with the...

We ordered fish tacos, quesadilla with fish, the lilikoi margarita, and 2 waters, total $50. All seemed to have potential, but only a few bites in and both of us suddenly had really bad reactions, which is crazy since neither of us have any food allergies. For me, my tongue swelled up and went numb in two places and it was weird trying to swallow. For my husband, his lips and tongue swelled up and were itchy and the roof of his mouth was also itchy. We couldn’t figure out what it was, hoping the fish wasn’t bad (I’m sure that will be clear by tomorrow! Lol! 😅). When we told the girl at the counter, we said we didn’t want to make anyone worried but just thought they should know, and they didn’t need to do anything for us. And she just didn’t care, no apology at all. She asked some questions, like could it be the cilantro. 🤷♀️ We were trying to hold back both our worry/surprise/laughter while answering her and simultaneously nursing our mouth pain. I know it’s really not funny, but the moment was so awful that we didn’t know how to react. We tried to power through, ‘maybe it’s just the pineapple salsa!’ we said. But we had to give up. We go up to the NS a lot and had hopes this spot could be a good one. Needless to say, we won’t be back. Trying not to imagine the gurgling in my stomach is in any...
Read moreHad a way better experience here than previously and will now be coming back more. The cashier who was super happy and sweet. I forget her name but she was a more recent employee. I am vegetarian & wanted tacos & they now will give you guacamole in place of the meat. They used to refuse to do that which was very frustrating because as a vegetarian it's nice to have some guacamole on the taco. My partner and I drive by here a lot and had stopped coming because even asking for more beans was meet with a grump no we don't do that
Now that I can get some guacamole it makes a huge difference but also just how friendly she was 😀👍
