Been here a few times. Never had issues until tonight. I’m a truck driver. Come through here weekly. Layover here about once a month. Sat at the bar. Steve was working the bar. Ignored me for a solid 25 minutes. I tried waving him down. Called out to get a menu. Finally got it. Waited another 10-15 minutes to place my order. Being ignored again. Placed my order. Got my food. Delicious food. Get the same thing every time. Rhino burger. Came time to pay. I asked for the check 4 TIMES. It’s a Monday night. Bar is slow. Tables empty. Is quiet. Steve is serving everyone at the bar except me. By the 3 time I asked for the check he acknowledged me finally by asking if I was done with my food. I said “yes. Can I get the check as well”. He WALKS AWAY. I’m sitting practically right in front of the register. I waited for 25 MORE MINUTES and 4 requests for a check before I finally got my check. If it was busy and loud and bustling I would have understood. But it was dead inside. Everyone has their drinks and is watching the game quietly. Other people’s tabs have been closed upon request but I’m sitting there contemplating just walking out because I AM TRYING TO PAY but getting ignored. I left a $2 cash tip on a $31.24 meal for the extra BBQ sauce.
Mind you I love this bar and grill. Great food. Never had a bad time here. If I stay in Bridgeport this is where I eat. But Steve…learn to pay attention to your customers man. I know I’m not a local patron here. But if you would have kept me waiting any longer then I would have left a $5 bill and walked out because getting paid for the meal and service clearly isn’t...
Read moreStopped here with my family on a drive from Yosemite into the Carson valley area. We were greeted by the locals with a the quick, quieting "y'all aren't from around here" stare. We were helped quickly by the waitress who got our salad and onion rings out fast, then we waited. About 40 minutes later the waitress informed us that everyone ordered pizza that night, and their pizza oven was small, and it would take a while. It would have been nice to get that warning earlier on so we could change our order. Pizza finally came out another 30 minutes later. Completely flavorless, no salt, pepper, garlic or oregano in the sauce. The cheese was strange - dense and stringy but flavorless and nearly liquid in texture. The crust was over thick and, while crispy, tasted like bread dough rather than pizza dough. My daughter who was nearly having a meltdown over her hunger didn't even want to eat it. The price for the pizza was absurd, $23 for a large Hawaian. Then we waited about another 20 minutes for our check. I nearly dined and dashed, until I noticed that this was very clearly the local law...
Read moreWe were in the area showing our children some of the old mining history when we drove through Bridgeport and the kids needed a restroom. We tried a few places that did not have restrooms so out of desperation we entered Rhino’s. I wasn’t sure what kind of lawless roadhouse this was going to be. Well, it IS a roadhouse but the restrooms were clean, the staff was super nice, they seem to have great enthusiasm for military and first responders which is a terrific character indicator so we decided to sit down and eat. The food was top notch and the place didn’t need Pat Swayze hanging out making sure folks behave.
They have a kid’s menu and they loved the food. My wife had a burger which she loved and I had the fish & chips which are rarely done right but Rhino’s makes an excellent batch of fish & chips that I highly recommend. Plus they have their own handmade tarter sauce which was great. If you are in the area you won’t regret paying Rhinos a visit. Great place, great food, and...
