China King Buffet — Restaurant in Hazard

I am here from Tennessee visiting. I had been told this was the place go to get some Chinese in Hazard. Small town, small expectations. When I pulled up front of the buffet place, I was thinking it was going to be mediocre. Walked in the place, yes you will have to pay upfront to eat BUT.... you pay for food at McDonalds, Buger King, Papa Johns and all that places BEFORE you eat so, I see some reviews complaining about that. It should be the norm. I had no issue with paying up front. I was little surprised they didnt have fountain drink but was fine with getting sweet tea. I paid, set my tea down and went to the buffet. Picked few things to try. I was pleasantly surprised how the food tasted. My favorite thing from this place is the stuffed mushroom and cheesy potatoes. One of the few places to eat in this town. Good food but more American food than Asian food on buffet. I travel once a month to area to work with business clients. In fairness, I'm use to getting real cuisine from Chinatown. However, it is disrespectful to have chicken nuggets, fried cheese sticks, fried onion rings, plantains, cheesy potatoes, cheesesteak & few Chinese options. I get they are trying to appeal to high starch food of area while saving money. They really need to bring back fresh fruit/melon & more...

I'm not going to sugar coat it, this place is bad. I have given this buffet more than one chance and it's not getting any better. It costs 15.00 each and it's just not worth it. The lo mein is nasty, the other items taste like it has chlorine in it. Save your money and eat at one of the other Chinese restaurants in town. Quantity is not better than quality in this case. I would rather get one or two items that I know I will like at the other Chinese restaurants over eating at a bad buffet that ends up...
