Heidelberg Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Heidelberg Township

🫣🤔😫 Used to be a local favorite of my family's, but not after our last visit. We won't be back. What felt even worse was that there was no sincere apology or asking how to make the meal and experience right. The owner/manager and server didn't really care what had happened, didn't care to fix it, and made it out like it was our fault and an inconvenience to them.

Our server or the kitchen messed up the order for one of the meals. All 3 meals ordered were brought out at the same time. When told the one meal was incorrect, the server had to go check the system and seemed at a loss for how to fix the problem and seemed like he was just hoping I'd be okay with what was given instead of what was originally ordered/requested.

Eventually, the server came back and said the correct meal was being made. Meanwhile, the other two had basically finished their meal while waiting on the other. Then, when the 3rd meal was brought out, it was just the meat portion and not a fresh hot side, considering the side was stone cold by the time the meat was brought out 20-30 minutes later. The owner/manager then wanted to take and trash the cold side, which is a waste, and we told him not to waste it. We said we'd take it home and reheat it. He didn't want to listen till my dad asked how they planned to make this poor experience right and mentioned a discount on the meal, then suddenly it was okay if I kept the cold side.

The food wasn't very good, lacked flavor, and the whole experience from start to finish was very poor. The only thing the owner/manager said after asking how our meal was and my dad responding honestly about it being very poor was that they'll make it right next time. We had come here previously & it was actually pretty good! I raved about their fish sandwich for months because of how good it was. Only thing that wasn’t too great that prior visit was the seafood bisque tasted extremely ‘peppery’, but we were told it had no pepper in it.. Today, I decided to take my daughter out on our first mom & daughter lunch date! I reordered the fish sandwich & she got the kids meal grilled cheese & smiley fries. It was o-k. Wasn’t as great as last time, but I still ate it! It came with a bag of kettle cooked chips this time rather than last time where I got french fries. My daughters meal was perfectly fine & to my surprise, she actually ate almost all of it. She was mesmerized by the trains that were driving around on the ceiling - that would be her favorite part of the place! As far as the service goes, our server wasn’t around much nor’ did he ask if everything was okay/needed anything. My sprite tasted like it had zero syrup (tasted almost sour?), but the other server took care of it for me which I am grateful for. I actually saw my server drive off as I was walking to my car after I was done. 🥴 All in all, it was okay, probably won’t be favoring this specific place but it’s been around for years & is definitely a staple...

Family restaurant???? With No kids menu!!! But they have “kids size drinks”. So they charge you the same adult prices for LESS food/ drinks. The waitress said order a short stack (2 pancakes) of the chocolate banana pancakes (comes as 3 pancakes) to “save money”. When I got my bill I was charged for the 3 pancakes order when she only got 2!

Then the kids drinks were smaller than the adults and when I got my bill she said all drinks are the same price. Then tell people this so they can order the adult sizes and get their money worth!!

I always tip but I took money OFF her tip for the lack of service and not being honest about where our money was going. She also did not want to make it right when I asked about the bill and only said “sorry” and walked away.

Our family tried this restaurant for the first time and when we walked in on a Saturday morning it was empty. Now we know why!! This place is NOT a family restaurant, nor do they care about children. We will never be coming back because of this and the food was...
