As a shipt shopper who works full time grocery shopping for other people, I’m completely disheartened at the utter disrespect I received from this business today. Anybody who works in the service industry can understand that receiving a $5 tip on a $475 order is crazy. I had to push 2 FULL shopping carts of grocery items for this coffee shop’s order (1 cart containing 19 gallons of milk and over 30 cartons of heavy whipping cream). Just sad to think you put in so much effort to make things right for people and they treat you so poorly in return. Really makes me wonder if their employees are underpaid. To any fellow shipt shoppers, absolutely DO NOT accept any orders from this business!
Reply to Owner’s Response: No need to teach me a lesson on how gratuity works, I worked in a restaurant for 9 years so I’m fully capable of understanding how tips are granted. And as the saying goes, if you can’t afford to tip your server, then you can’t afford to go out to eat. In other words, if you can’t afford someone to grocery shop for you, then get your own groceries!! It is morally wrong to request a shipt shopper to go through the hassle of pushing 2 full shopping carts at the same time to gather grocery items (in bulk) to restock your coffee shop’s inventory, especially without adequately compensating them for the services they provide for your business. It’s funny how you accuse your shipt shopper of not being considerate of financial situations at home. Did you at all stop to think about how your lack of compensation directly impacts the people that provide these services for you? IT GOES BOTH WAYS. You’re saying that just because you own a small business in a bad economy makes it totally okay to screw over independent contractors who are just as equally negatively impacted by this economy as you are?! I work for way less than minimum wage and heavily rely on gratuity to make up for it. Not to mention I paid for my own gas to transport your groceries from H-E-B. I hope whoever reads this review sees the writing on the wall with how much this business cuts corners just to stay afloat. The owner needs a HUGE reality check.
And FYI, as a business owner, you should know by now that responding to negative reviews in a rude and condescending way that avoids any sort of accountability is probably not the smartest idea in terms of maintaining an overall positive image of the company. Oh well! I wish you well, too!
