Freeze Maid Dairy Bar — Restaurant in Henderson

Drove 20 minutes for ice cream. When I arrived a young man very nicely told me that could not take any more customers. I said to him your web site shows your open until 8pm. It is now 7:35. I said that is false advertisement. He said why did you wait until 8 to come get ice cream?Hey... it’s not 8Pm... its 7:35... Really that’s what he said to me. I said don’t you think the employees would like to make money. He said they were high school kids and couldn’t work the hours... I looked up how many hours youth can work . This was a total lie. I have been in the food business for over 30 years. The biggest mistake you can make is not honoring the hours you advertise. I watch him turn away at least 10 people. So they are not open 4-8... they are open only 3 1/2 hours a day . Don’t worry I will not be back as well as several others you turned away. Thanks for showing me that Henderson can use a new soft serve...

If you are from Henderson then you are probably very familiar with this place and its reputation of having some of the best ice cream that you will find. I remember when it was in the old building just a short distance from its current location and people would be lined up in front of them windows constantly. Back then if you found yourself towards the back of the line then you were only just a few inches away from cars speeding by you on Norlina Rd. I think the ice cream was slightly better back then when it was at that location because people didn’t care if they got hit, as long as they got some freeze maid ice cream everything would...

I admit I'm a little biased because I've been going since childhood. I can also confidently say the quality is supreme, staff changes every year since it is only open seasonally but they were friendly and I was served in a timely manner. One thing to note is there is not a dining area so only to go orders. I will say that the weather would play a part in choosing to go there or not since it is outdoors only with minimal awnings. To be honest it's an excepti onal small town ice cream station that locals anticipate it opening each season. Pricing is very reasonable as well. Just a quick good treat for beating the...
