Core Brewing Company, XNA — Restaurant in Highfill

Meh… Cobb salad was kind of flimsy/not the freshest. They asked if I wanted to add grilled chicken to it, which I did, and it was pretty rubbery. I ordered edamames at the same time but halfway through my salad they weren’t there so I asked about them — the waiter had forgotten and brought them out shortly after. Waiter was sweet though.

When I got my bill, it was a while to get the card reader — I thought maybe I had to come up to the bar but there wasn’t any open space around it to stand, so I asked a different waiter to bring me the card reader and he said no problem. Then the original waiter told me to come up to the bar to pay, which was confusing, because she made me literally go behind the bar to tap my card and I was clearly in other peoples’ way. Just a bit off...

Started off great until the bartender got involved. We were waiting in AK for a delayed flight and almost thought the bartender was joking with the way we were treated. I asked if it was too late to get two more drinks and he said yes… I thought it was a joke until we never actually got them and others were served. We were treated rudely before by him, but again took it in a joking sort of matter. We had been ordering food and drinks just fine until we had to deal with him. Great little spot inside XNA. Quick, friendly service. The menu is modest, with options like paninis, salads, nachos, etc. We had the beef panini and nachos--both were excellent. Large variety of Core brews, plus Sam Adams, Stella, liqour, and wine. They do not serve any other beverages outside of mixers (so Coke is a yes, tea or coffee is a no), but do let you bring it in from other shops in the airport. Ample TV's and varied seating options (4 tops, high tops, and bar seating). A nice little refuge inside...
